PBP for one?

I hate to take up space upon the front page of the "Talking the Talk" but with the holidays I don't see that much posting going on so it's probably not a big deal right now.

I was quite happy last night when I had numerous games make multiple posts between others and me. It was rather nice and got me curious if anyone can remember if theirs has ever been a PbP game with only on PC and one DM/GM?

If so could you please tell me how it went? :)

Hm, I think Creamsteak and GnomeWorks had something planned at one point a while back, but it never worked out for some reason.

The idea sounds interesting, but I'm concerned about the inherent added work on the part of the GM. Not only does the GM have to provide the antagonists and environment, but he also has to provide protagonists secondary to the PC.

Mordane, true enough, :) but you have people on here who DM like 5 or 6 pbp games. So based upon that I would have to gyess someibe would be crazy enough to run it. :D

I almost did it.
Although, I really wanted to run a 2 player game Fafhrd/Grey Mouser, Batman/Robin sort-of-thing.
That was a while back, though.
There was a really funny (Yes, I am about to make fun of someone...) game that I watched at one point, but I think that the DM became tired of being corrected on his/her spelling/grammer etc...
'll see if I can find it.
it was called 'WuHa at last!' or some such.

i tested a cyberpunk game like that once. In person though. It is a lot of work and I guess I would only do it for short stories. I guess it would work a lot better with pbp though.

I remember that game. VERY surreal. I think the guy who ran it was named "las" and the guy who played was "Jeph." I can't search, but maybe that will help someone locate it. Half the game had to have been deciphering the meaning behind the DMs posts.

I have a couple long running PBeMs, and in both of them I introduced new PCs with their own personal side adventures first. It went very well, and much faster than the full group games. Only needing to hear from one player before reposting makes a huge difference.

I only had a couple of short, canned adventures tho, not a full blown game.

PS

I used to run a PbP for my significant other on here. It was based on the Sunless Citadel adventure. Unfortunately, I am also running the Dungeon Adventure Path. Since I do not have the multitasking abilities of some, it grew too much for me to handle. We dropped the Sunless Citadel in favor of the Adventure Path.

In general, it was no more work than a normal campaign, at least not for me. It was just that with my work on my PhD, I couldn't keep both running. YMMV.

Myself and Gnomeworks tried to run a game using a character I really wanted to play, and a class that I developed specifically for it. We set the game in the Psionicle, and had a ton of ideas going... but we were so out-of-sink on posting and the thread kept sinking down to the 2nd page. Basically it died out around post 7, I believe. Woulda been great though. A lot of potential in a 1 on 1 pbp.
