For Immediate Release:
PCGen is proud to announce that Wizards of the Coast Inc. has
completed looking over PCGen and that it is OGL and D20 compliant as
of version 4.0.0!!!
Wizards of the Coast has been looking at several software products
and addressing their concerns to them, and while others are currently
still addressing issues, PCGen is the first to successfully address
all concerns with software and compliancy with both the OGL and D20
licenses that have been raised.
The PCGen team would like to thank Wizards of the Coast Inc. for
being very responsive to our questions about exactly what changes
were required to be in compliance with the Open Gaming and D20
Licenses. Looking over software is not a requirement that Wizards of
the Coast has, nor is there an `Official Stamp of Approval' process,
they have, in the interest of the gaming community, been working
closely with several software makers to make sure there are multiple
options for gamers. We at the PCGen team would like to thank Anthony
Valterra (D&D Brand Manager) and his assistant, Andrew Smith
(Publishing intern), for taking the time to verify that everything
was done properly according to both licenses within PCGen as well as
looking at the other software packages out there!
Being a completely free and fan-driven effort it is gratifying to
have an application that serves the needs of the gamers, helps
promote publishers and is also in the good graces of the company that
is responsible for the game that inspired the application itself. We
worked very closely with Anthony and Andrew at Wizards of the Coast,
so everyone should send them a fan-mail to thank them for their time
and effort to make this possible! We would also like to thank all
those who have toiled on the crafting of the OGL and D20 licenses
which has been such a wonderful boon to the RPG industry as a whole.
