PC's with no fashion sense!

Our group just found Slippers of Spider Climb. Who wears them? The Ranger who's decked out in Studded Leather Armor. So technically she looks like Strider with some ballerina slippers on her feet rather than some grimey walking boots.
"The soles of your slippers are starting to look a little worn out after weeks of tromping about over rough stones. You suspect that they weren't enchanted to resist the wear and tear of long-distance travel. Perhaps you should consider wearing boots most of the time, and save the slippers for when you actually need them. Or you could just keep wearing them... maybe they won't lose their magic once you've worn holes in their soles. Heh."

That's a good point, and probably what the players I game with would do. We don't assume that just because you've got something means you've got to wear it all the time. My PC, for instance, refuses to go around all day with an ioun stone orbiting his head because he finds it distracting. He only gets it out at times of need.

I like that, I might actually use this :)

Depends on which period of medieval fashion history you're talking about. You could have medieval adventurers wearing particolored hose, dagged sleeves, and shoes with really, really long pointed toes. And all the ladies could wear wimples. ;)

Even worse, your sorceress could wear baggy hip-hop shorts belted around her upper thighs and walk around holding them up by the crotch.

I wonder why the name slippers of spider climb automatically brings to mind a mental image of something resembling ballet shoes? I have that same image, but I don't know where I got it from. Couldn't they be boots of spider climb, or sandals of spider climb? Oh well, at least I don't have a mental image of fuzzy pink bunny slippers of spider climb.

Of course not - that's what these are for!

Now that I have found them, I kind of want them... :p
