Peace no More (Jemals Epic Game)PROLOGUE

The Champions seem to be coping now, especially with the possibility that their friend will be returned to them.

You've all been keeping an eye on them off-and-on (Verdane more than most). None of you have ever met any of them before.

Here's what Verdane knows of them:

Alice - Halfling Preistess , born on the coast.
Jordan - The half-elven Druid, born and raised in the Wilderness
Perin - The dead Human Ranger, brother of Morelus
Morelus - The human Paladin of Ukko, brother of Perin. Both Morelus and Perin are from Mar'san.
Snipe - the Drow Sorceror, son of Za'rinus (a drow who came out of the underdark to escape his evil people), born on the coast.

Jordan is the defacto leader of the group.

As Eigan looks at the drow, he realizes that Snipe does look like he misses his friend, though he (As is usual for him, from what you guys know) tries to keep his true feelings hidden.

"His name's Perin of Mar'san, he's Morelus' brother, he's 25. Anything else you need to know?" The drow says in a matter-of-fact tone.

Jordan then turns to answer Rynin's questions "We had just discovered this black stone." He pulls a Marble-sized, pitch-black, perfect sphere out of a pocket. "We were trying to find out what had caused the destruction of Mar'san, seeing as how we're.. um, that is we thought we were the most capable heroes around. I thought it was Cal for a moment, until I realized those elementals were real." He stops for a moment and looks around. "Oh right, sorry.. Cal is a gnomish illusionist who likes to screw with us.. fortunately he doesn't care much for doing evil, just annoying and tricking people, and making money."

OODM: you'll have to Talk about the divinations amongst yourselves.

Estefan stares out the window in a sad state of mind. He is anxiously awaiting the arrival of his neice and companions whom he usually shares his emotional problems with. He overhears the reference to a black crystal and turns to see what the others are talking about.

"Let's start with the sphere. Where did you find it?" Rynin begins to inquire about the nature of the events. He will continue with questions to keep the information flowing (OOC:I will post them all at once to save time).

Rynin detects evil upon the sphere.

"How did you come to find the stone? Do you think it was a material component for the sphere that destroyed the city? Do you know of any survivors? Did any of you see your attacker and if so did you recognize him? Did he say anything to you before we arrived? Do you know what provoked his attack on you specifically? Was there anything happening in the city that might have been significant with regard to the timing of the attack?"

Rynin looks to Verdane, "We must find our enemies motivations and make sure we do not allow him to strike again. Do you think he works for his own ends or do you think he was sent by a higher power?"

And then he looks to Eigan, "Perhaps higher powers have forced their will on our world in an unusual way.......but I am sure Pelor would have given us guidance if that were the case...."

Jordan steps forward to answer the questions.
"Let's start with the sphere. Where did you find it/How did you come to find the stone?"
"We were beginning so search the crater, and right before those elementals showed up I found it laying right on the edge of the blast radius."

Rynin detects evil upon the sphere.
There's a lingering evil on it, a fairly powerful one, but it seems to be fading fast.

Do you think it was a material component for the sphere that destroyed the city?
Truthfully I don't know, the elementals litterally appeared as I was picking it up so we didn't have any time to examine it.

Do you know of any survivors?
"Morelus may, but... " Jordan looks over at the paladin "Perhaps we should wait until his brother's death has been dealt with.."

Did any of you see your attacker and if so did you recognize him?
"See him yes, but I didn't recognize him.. Did anyone else?" He looks around and the rest of them shake their heads.

Did he say anything to you before we arrived?
"He said DIE and the next thing I heard was the explosion."

Do you know what provoked his attack on you specifically?
"The stone is obviously important, and I'm thinking that when his elementals couldn't defeat us he came to finish us off himself."

Was there anything happening in the city that might have been significant with regard to the timing of the attack?"
"Nothing I know of now, though in a week is the.. that is, would have been the 18th birthday of the Mayors only daughter.. she was going to anounce who she had chosen as her husband, to continue the noble line."

Meanwhile, Estefan realizes that without some form of teleportation magic it'll be another day or two until they arrive.

"Faith alone is guidance enough, even in the most trying circumstances. Faith not only in the divine, but in one's own self -- and in friends, as well." Eigan pats Rynin on the shoulder, seeming wholly without worry.

"Now if you'll excuse me, there is a young spirit who, I imagine, is quite eager to return to his own friends and duties, and I do not wish to keep him waiting."

Eigan wanders off, finding a quiet, open space to begin his ritual...

Rynin asks to see the stone and hands it to Verdane, "What do you make of this? If it important enough to our friend that he would unveil himself, perhaps he will return again to retrieve it."

Rynin turns back to Jordan, "You said that this is the week the mayor's daughter is turning 18 and announcing her wedding plans. Do you know if that was a particularly contoversial decision that she was making? Was this some type of punishment for a bad decision on her part??? And who would benefit most from Mar'sun being utterly destroyed? It seems to me that this was about retribution as it wouldn't be much good to take over a city that is destroyed."

After these questions get answered Rynin will turn to help Eigan prepare for his rituals while deep in thought.

Verdane uses his gem of seeing to discern any hidden characteristics about the tiny black sphere. He also uses the standard array of detect magic and detect thoughts to see if he can find anything more about it. "Evil, huh? Interesting indeed." He will begin searching for the appropriate sage of the land, who may seem to know of such an object.

"I believe that it is a diabolic sphere, capable of dissolving the will to persist. Slowly, its influence has spread among our companions and stunned them into silence. Soon, it may claim us too."

OOC: Is this game ending now?

OODM: Read the OOC thread post, I apologize for the problems and lack of updates.
IDM:

Eigan heads to another room and starts his ritual, which will take about an hour.

Meanwhile, Jordan does his best to answer Rynin's questions, but doesn't know much more, the princess's decision was a private thing and nobody knew what she had decided yet, though Verdane thinks he could magically find out.

Estefan keeps staring out the window, wondering how he's going to speed up the arrival of his friends(Both animal and humanoid)

Verdane puts the stone under intense scrutiny, and finds that other from being evil, it seems to also be very VERY magical. some sort of combination of transmutation and teleportation magics.
