Peace no More (Jemals Epic Game)PROLOGUE

Verdane casts a quickened detect thoughts to check for the presence of the enemy. Satisfied that he is nowhere to be found, he suggests, "Let us return to the relative safety of my abode. I suspect that there is little more which we can do here for now."

"Much agreed, Verdane... I'm more than happy to call this battle over. And from your tower perhaps we can learn more about our assailant... Although, knowing you, you've managed to work out work out his life story for yourself already." Eigan smiles and pats the mage on the shoulder, then looks out at the others, making a come-along motion with his cane.

"Let's gather, then. I doubt this enemy will return soon -- Rynin's strike seemed to rattle him quite a bit, although I can't say the same for our magics. When we meet again, perhaps we should exercise a little less restraint..."

He pulls his gloves tight, flexing his fingers gently to keep the joints fresh, and waits for Verdane to lead their exit.

After healing himself, Rynin moves to the portal and allows the others to enter first. "We should invite the others; they will be safer and they may have information that can help us."

" And yes, Estafan, I am healthy today, although if that happens again I will need your aid *smiling*"

Rynin will be last through the portal.

Verdane dispels his own wall of force and heads through the portal back into his abode. Having shown the others the way, he awaits their arrival. Once everyone is there, including hopefully the champions, he'll close the portal and begin discussion of their next move.

"An ancient Vampire Master who will summon the King of Death...an obscure passage from a lost ancient tongue. But that would have best described our adversary. Eigan, your sunbeam was most appropriate. The use of an Eclipse to make his appearance during the day...a bold move indeed, although I suspect that he will be a little more reserved in the future and act under the cover of natural darkness."

"Why Mar'san? Do you think he was trying to accomplish something in particular here, or are other cities in jeapordy in a reign of terror? Is it possible to track this person? [to champions] Do you know why you were attacked? Did you do something in particular to provoke an attack?

Perhaps Pelor will have some guidance."

OOC: Divinations/ Questions seem to be in order at this point?

Eigan sighs softly. "If only the dead would just stay dead, things would be so much nicer for the living..."

He hangs his head momentarily, then his eyes widen.

"Oh! That reminds me... Forgive me if it's not the proper time, but I fear that our quiet moments will be precious few until we have seen an end to this trouble... I know it is a difficult question, but on the matter of resurrection, I will assume that you, as I, would choose to return to life should you pass before we have triumphed over this particular evil. If otherwise, I of all people understand, but please let me know before it becomes an issue... Verdane, would you know of a fair jeweler to be found quickly and well-stocked, for I must admit that I myself do not normally keep the necessary diamonds in my collection."

(At first opportunity, Eigan will purchase 5 diamonds worth 5,000 gp, and another 5 worth 500, totalling 27,500 gp in value... Let me know when this occurs.

Also, for the time being, assume the following changes to the normal spells-memorized list:

7 (6+1) - Destruction, Greater Restoration, Holy
Word, Resurrection, Sunbeam(2) + Sunbeam)

Estefan will smile slightly at the good-natured jest. He turns to look at the crater in which they all stand and his shoulders seem to slump. After a time, he sighs heavily and mutters what sounds like a prayer under his breath and turns towards the portal. The half-elf looks on the verge of bursting into heart-wrenching sobs...or is it unbridled rage?

Once in the chamber with the others, he will stand quietly and respond when he is spoken to as well as offering his own ideas about the situation.

After gathering the champions you are now all in the chamber.

As you speak the Paladin and preistess are off in a corner, consoling each other over the loss of the Ranger. Apparently they could find nothing of his body to bring back (Total incineration via being reduced to negative 340 hp.. ouch), and she has not the power to bring him back with no remains.

As they hear you talking about going to a jeweller for Diamonds to fuel your spells, the Druid pointedly coughs and looks meaningfully at the Drow sorceror, who tries to ignore him for a few awkward seconds and finally sighs. "Do you know how hard it is to find diamonds this perfect?." he mutters to the druid as he pulls out a perfect, naturaly formed diamond. "This things worth about 6,000. I'll give it to you if you can bring the ranger back, these guys are hard to live with when they're greiving."

Eigan smiles and looks the drow deeply in the eyes momentarily, searching for any veiled signs of sympathy. In any case, he will take the diamond, and begin looking for a good location to consecrate for a True Resurrection.

"Tell me what you know of this 'Ranger'... A name would be a good start. In most circumstances the story of his death would be enough, but..." he inhales deeply, before continuing softly "in this case, that may be too ambiguous."

His question is open, although his body language directs it a little more toward the drow than the others... His mind seems a bit elsewhere: He toys with the diamond casually in his hand, as though it were no more precious to him than a stone found on a road...

Rynin walks to the Paladin and Priestess and puts a reassuring hand on their shoulders, "Brother Eigan will make you friend whole again. Do not fear, he will be given the chance to return to this mortal world soon." At an appropriate time in the conversation Rynin will try to divert the conversation back to the task at hand.

To the champions he asks," Do you know why you were attacked? Was there something you found that may have been a clue as to who your attacker was?"

"Verdane, can we continue to survey the landscape and see what there is to see?"

OOC: What knowledge do we have of the champions? Have we met them before? Are any of them from Mar'sun? Perhaps we should discuss a divination?
