People using Gary's avatar

Don't worry, Tewligan, I feel the same way.

Just keep in mind that they mean well. To them it's a show of respect. I'm sure if anyone was doing so and being disrespectful about it appropriate steps would be taken.

i understand what oyu are saying, and thats why i didnt say its wrong.

but i wont fight against, its just my thoughts
I understand and that is your way of handling his passing.

Try this though. Instead of being sad when you view the avatar, just try and remeber all the good times you had playing the game and how his invention changed your life and take away from that a warm memory that can't be changed by someone using his avatar.

Now, also, don't take offense when someone using the avatar is being a dink in a post. Not saying you would, but people sometimes have a tendency to associate things like avatars with the comments made by that person. If you can seperate the two and just enjoy your fond memories of D&D and Gary by looking at an avatar, then you are turning your grief into a strength and that is never bad.

.... Didn't die in the sarlacc.

Seriously, it's some people's shtick. I'm sure Gary was flattered in life, so I doubt he would care now. He was iconic, and shall remain so forever.

For me, it's not that I'm sad. It's just that when I see someone with an avatar of Gary Gygax, my first thought is "why is someone using mister Gygax's account to post?".

Which creeps me out for a second.

I mean no disrespect.

I'm doing it as a kind of "Spartacus," solidarity thing:

I'm Gary!
Nevertheless, it really bothers a lot of people, myself included. There's no problem at all with the avatar, but I'd appreciate it if you'd stop using "I'm Gary!"
