D&D 5E Perfect example of the kind of interaction that I wish Wizards had with it's community.

Excuse me? Heaven forbid I express my opinion. That makes me not deserving of being spoken to? Last I checked we all have opinions and a right to express them. SHAME ON YOU for attacking me for expressing my opinion.

"To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker." Frederick Douglass

“If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.”
George Orwell

Seriously shame on you. Have more respect for opinions that differ from yours. Even if you disagree.

Dude, a few posts ago you accused everyone who disagreed with you of "being a WOTC mouthpiece or blind worshiping". You are welcome to that opinion, just like we have a right to disagree.

Thats right. But what I said was

"And to parrot Mearls claim, TO ME, SEEMS like someone being a WOTC mouthpiece or blind worshiping."

I put the important parts in caps. NEVER did I state that someone didn't deserve to be spoken to for their opinion as if they are less than human. Also that was in regards to people parroting Meals on the canceled book topic, not in regards to people disagreeing with me.

I didn't say anything about you not expressing your opinion. You expressed it. I didn't stop you. You did it successfully.

However... just because someone can express their opinion doesn't mean there aren't consequences for doing it. And by insinuating Mike is and has been lying to us, and thus somehow treating *us* poorly for just doing his job... to then point out that that treatment is possibly a reason why he doesn't want to talk to us about anything (the entire point of this thread), is not out of line at all.

You (the general You) want to impugn Mike's character but also question why he doesn't want to talk to us? The answer is pretty self-evident, if you ask me. And pointing that out is not stopping anyone from expressing ANYTHING. You can't have it both ways-- you want him to communicate with us... but also just accept it when we call him a liar when he does.

Sorry. That's not how human nature works.

No offense, but like I said before, debating this is just debating semantics. The thing was planned and it got canceled. Period. To say anything else is just nonsense.

Yes, Mearls' "can't cancel" tweet was silly - it most certainly is possible to cancel a book that hasn't been announced.

But the appropriate response to that is some light mockery, much like that directed at Pathfinder's Prone Shooter feat (the original - it has since been revised). Not the NERD SMASH over-reaction that was seen, and is still seen, in some of the posts here.

DEFCON1's right - given some of what gets said about WotC here and the way every mis-step is leapt upon as some sort of disaster, it's no wonder there hasn't been anyone from WotC here much since The Rouse.

You just put ALOT of words in my mouth. All I said was the book was canceled and to debate that is debating semantics. Period. That's it. And I'm sorry if you disagree but if online sites had the cover the price and the back cover blurb which I'll provide here...

D&D Adventurer's Handbook (hardcover accessory; $39.95) -- "Create Heroic Characters to Conquer the Elements in this Accessory for the World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game. Not inherently evil, elemental power can be mastered by those with both malevolent and benign intentions. The Elemental Evil Adventurer’s Handbook provides everything that players need to build a character that is tied directly into the Elemental Evil story arc, with skills, abilities, and spells meant to augment their play experience throughout the campaign. Additionally, valuable background and story information provides greater depth and immersion. An accessory that expands the number of options available for character creation for the Elemental Evil story arc, providing expanded backgrounds, class builds, and races meant specifically for this campaign. Provides background and setting information critical to having the greatest chance of success."

.... then the book was well into production, hence it was canceled. Whether it was canceled publicly or canceled behind the scenes it was still canceled. To debate back and forth about it is just silly.

And no you didn't stop me from expressing my opinion. You simply stated that I don't deserve to be spoken to for expressing it. Which is offensive.

Fan are often passionate. From the designer/writer's personal point of view one single ugly and drawn out discussion that goes badly more than overwhelms 100 positive interactions. Designer/writers keeping some personal distance from fans has been the norm in this industry from way back (and other entertainment industries as well).

I think the "teasing" kind of interaction can easily precipitate a bad kind of interation.

YMMV.

As for the brand, those are some gorgeous and expensive D&D dragons I saw at my FLGS. WotC may be hoping that D&D can muscle in on the tabletop/wargaming action. They might compete head to head with Warhammer, given that little Johnny does not have to pull out the glue and paint before playing with his Christmas toys.

I do agree with this post. I'm not defending over reactions from the fan base at all, nor have I insinuated that. Thanks for agreeing with me about the cancel thing.

PS: I swear I posted my last post using the term 'silly' before I read your post using 'silly' lol.

Why did you change accounts?
