Personal forum that is explicitly pro-4e?

FireLance

Legend
Over in this thread on the 4e forums, a few people seem supportive of the idea of a pro-4e forum, and I thought one way to get one would be to have a personal forum on ENWorld that is explicitly pro-4e. I'd be willing to pay for the cost, of course.

Since this could become a rather sensitive issue, I thought I'd discuss it here first.

1. Do you think that a personal pro-4e forum is a good idea? Would you be comfortable with such a forum here on ENWorld?

2. Would the "owner" of the forum be allowed to set moderation policies for the forum, or moderate the forum himself?

I hope Morrus and the regular moderators will be able to offer an opinion. Thanks!

Two related notes - I'm theoretically in support of Firelance's idea - I don't mind the heat, but I would also like a forum where the possibilities of 4E could be discussed without having to stop to fight off the anti crowd.

2ndarily, is it kosher to use the "4E news and discussion" forum to talk about campaign building, character concepts, etc for 4E campaigns, or should that be somewhere else? I'm getting in the mood to start having those conversations. :)

I like the idea.

I agree that -some- discussion of "how will this work" instead of "It won't work" or "I'm gonna house rule this cause it's obviously not going to work" would be good.

I mean... you'd still get "for" and "against" concepts and ideas and there'd need to be moderation, satisfy Eric's grandmother and so forth.

I know that some number of people I know (most of whom are lurkers) on the boards are getting in a mind to start thinking about prepping/testing/running/brainstorming.

We can just do it by email but in the past EnWorld has offered a rich environment for cross pollination.
It would be nice to see that continue.

If a forum is too much work (and I think it might be a lot of work for whoever sets it up)
Would the moderators "bless" it idea of a "uniform" post head, which would clearly state what was appropriate and inappropriate (i.e. not stifle debate per se, but encourage people who want to post "and this is why I don't like 4e" to make a separate thread linking to it instead of dumping directly into the thread).

For example:
Thread Title (in 4e forum): [Constructive Criticism only] My new 4e campaign idea: Return to the Feywild
And lead with some piece of set block text:
This thread is for positive discussion of 4e. If you don't feel like constructively participating in the conversation please start a new thread linking to this thread.
PLEASE DO NOT POST INTO THIS THREAD IF YOU DO NOT APPRECIATE ITS SPIRIT. If you are unsure as to whether your post is appropriate please see Explanatory Meta Thread. If you don't follow these guildlines your post will probably be deleted.

The wording of the block text, obviously, would need to be a bit better.

I'm not an overwhelming supporter of 4e per se (I like and play most every rpg at this point in my life), but I do think that some of the dumping is getting a bit toxic. There's nothing wrong with being exited about 4e and the whole "roast people who like it! get 'em get 'em!" thing was stale the second it started.

Although we wouldn't have any problems with a hosted rorum having its own rules and moderation, we haven't been in the business of selling hosted forums for a long while now, unfortunately. :)

I guess it makes this thread kind of pointless, then. :p
