First, as has already been mentioned in this thread, "they" has a distinguished pedigree as the singular and plural pronoun which dates from before Shakespeare, who also used it. That it fell out of favour in subsequent centuries isn't a black mark against its name, considering it disappeared about the same time as prescriptivist idiots started trying to make English conform to Latin rules of grammar.Thunderfoot said:Voted He but would prefer He/She .
