For my first two years of gaming, I called them "droh", as in, "Drow, drow, drow your boat...."Rhymes with "bow."

That crossed my mind, but earns no sympathy from me. That and the same folks who misspell it seem to always be the first ones to point out that eladrin were D&D celestials before they were D&D elves. It makes the typo seem like a deliberate shot at a concept they don't like. (Anybody else remember that one guy who used to insist on spelling 4E as "$E"?)People might be confusing them with Warhammer Eldar.
