Anyone have any "new" news on this? I Googled but couldn't find anything on the status of the discussions? Damm lawyers, get moving

Unfortunately, I don't think it has anything to do with the lawyers. I think the lawyers could make a deal in thirty seconds.

I think the problem is that each studio thinks the Hobbit is worth a billion dollars and none of the studios want to share the wealth with the other studios, so there is no deal.

The Hobbit probably won't be made until studio heads become rational (like that is going to happen) or once some of the rights expire (if ever).
