PHB2 sold out!

It is when I found them by random means and in random places.

So, what is your experience in marketing & surveying? I'll wait for you to answer this inexplicably, unanswered question...

So in other words you have anecdotal data just like I do... That's what I thought. :hmm:

D'Karr organizes a monthly 4E gameday event in VA. There's tons of people who show up, and it grows every time he runs it.

I run a similar event in Maryland on a weekly basis and it is now growing to the point that we are seating 21 people a week. What started out as a DM and 5 players is now 3 (sometimes 4) DMs and tables stuffed to capacity.

I was also part of a similar event meeting in Frederick and that one grew to capacity and beyond (I eventually had to drop out as there were simply too many people! Plus I started off my own campaign on Sundays..)

Everyone is having an awesome time (I know I am).

It's all anecdotal data, sure. But it's observable and through the roof.

I know it's all gloom and doom and hatred on the internet and everyone is wondering why can't it be thus and so. And I don't know. I'm tired of the stupidity and the bile. The arguments are mostly just pointless, and when it comes down to the very angriest people, you scratch the surface and find out many of these guys were just as angry 6 months before the game was out.

My new (previously non-gaming) girlfriend likes D&D4. My 10 year old not only plays, but he plays unsupervised by me.. and that was something I never would have imagined a year ago. I've met so many great people through gaming, and we've had such a great time with one another.

It's great, the new game is wonderful. PHB2 is awesome, and it's not as scarce as people are making it out to be. It sells out quickly (well, it did at my store) because people are buying it. If you like another version of the game, (or another game) thats great too. Read into this whatever you like, but it won't change a thing. 4E is great, and I refuse to let anyone else's bitterness ruin it for me.

I just don't care about anyone else's woes or anger with Wizards. Heck, I can't even get angry about the Orioles anymore.

No, I have survey data. Please detail your data. Oh, you haven't a clue. That's what I thought...
You, also, have not given details of your data or your methodology. You have given vague two-liners about it with an appeal to your presumed (and possibly fictional) authority/expertise.

As near as I can tell, your data is also anecdotal, but you're mischaracterizing it as a proper survey. While you have given numbers, without proper methodology, it's invalid.

So this from ingram, the biggest distributor and book wholeseller in the US according to wikipedia. So are these numbers good or bad?
They seem pretty low to me in relation to what we have been hinted with.
What's the most plausible deal here?

Not to mention he is targeting his... um, negativity at a specific person, which is likely a board violation. You gotta talk respectfully around here, especially when your talking directly to a specific person. Leave petty stuff to petty people, we strive to have mature, non petty disagreements around here. I think we are also all aware of how hard that can be at times. So step back, take deep breathes, etc...

It tells us several highly likely things. One thing is it tells us that the expected ratio of 6 PH's to 1 DMG is likely a true expectation. I would like to know just how much bigger this distributor is in comparison to the others, and how many others there are, before I make any further "assumptions" that may upset people.

If anyone could find distribution numbers that go overseas, that would be hugely helpful as well.

Let's try to keep the ad hominem attacks to ourselves, eh?

Your survey seems to be relatively valid, but you'd need to go into specifics before we can really extrapolate from it. Multiple countries? Doesn't mean anything. Random groups? Not random if you know them all, and conducted the survey yourself. You seem like a reasonably intelligent guy, you know all this.

Until we have hard numbers from an outside source without any spin on it, all the speculation we do just muddies the waters further.

EDIT: Ninja'd so hard, it hurts.
