Calvin grabs his weapon and rushes over to where the boy is sleeping, keeping an eye out for danger.

He nudges whoever is closest to his path to Knives, to wake them, and continues on.

He looks around as he approaches to see if there are any enemies, or if it seems that Knives is having a nightmare.
Calvin heads to the edge of the firelight, seeing drag marks from where Knives had been sleeping.

The boy screams, his voice cracking even worse than usual.

Blocking the fire's light with his body, Calvin is finally able to see what's happening: The Tarantula's cabin boy is being dragged by the ankle toward the water by a crab-thing the size of a Great Dane. The creature has a semi-translucent carapace, slender legs, a swollen abdomen that resembles the shell of a snail and seven eyes on stalks. Its pinchers, one of which clutches Knives' bloody leg, gleam with a sticky liquid.

As soon as his gaze falls upon the giant crab-thing, Safari involuntarily takes a step back in fear. Then he sees the captive Knives and he steels himself, gripping the hilt of his runic machete hard. Then he charges the thing, while shouting cursewords.

Bautista awakens and rises to his feet. "vá embora, sua besta profana do mar. Os espíritos nos protegem!", he shouts as he starts to chant out a familiar incantation.

Protection. You summon a ghost or spirit to watch over the souls of you and your allies. Everyone who is protected gets -d2 protection for one hour as if wearing extra armor (does not affect penalties to Strength and Agility, not affected by Fumbles). I.1 soul II.2 souls III.3 souls

Burn Tokwith stares aghast at the scene of crab-on-cabin-boy violence. "I'm not the cannibal -- you're the cannibal," he yells at the monstrous shellfish.

Drawing his machete, Tokwith leaps at the colossal crustacean, mouth already watering at the crab boil to come.

((OK, I need one of you to roll a d6 to determine initiative order. Get a 1-3, the enemies go first. Roll a 4-6, you guys go first, in the order in which you post.))

((After that, roll a d20 to attack -- a DR 12 Strength check for melee, a DR 12 Presence check for ranged and DR 12 Agility check to defend.))

As Safari closes on the crab-thing he desperately swings his blade.

Attack with trusted runic weapon (needs 10 to hit). d20 roll = 12 - 0, so he lands a blow. d6 damage to the crab-thing = 4.

Then the monster snaps back at him with a terrifying claw! A sickening crunch is heard and Safari sees blood seep from his abdomen. He's hurt, but how bad?

Defense. d20 roll = 7 + 0, so he takes a hit.
