PrCs R Us

Ok, as requested, a quick summary of all PrCs.

Cancer Mage - despite the name, it's more a rogue-oriented class. 10 levels. You get some sneak attack, a cancerous tumor that acts as your familiar, some different types of armor, you can carry diseases and cause them, you can create intelligent diseases and take disease form yourself. Utterly disgusting.

Demonologist - Conjurations specialists (demons, of course). 10 levels. You can charm demons, hold demons, and dominate demons, get a quasit familiar, summoning mastery, demonic resistances, telepathy, and poison immunity. However you have a paladin-like spells per day and a limited spell list.

Diabolist - Mostly wizards wanting to be really powerful and have chosen hell's path to do so. You get +1 caster level each of the 10 levels. You can add extra power (evil power) to you spells, you get an imp familiar, and can eventually add vile damage to your spells.

Disciple of Asmodeus - You want ulimate power. 10 level class. You get 6 spellcasting levels. You gain abilities like charm and command. You can learn secrets (bonuses to Gather Info checks), summon devils, and get some favor from Asmodeus himself.

More later, must go to work!

Is the Lifedrinker the same PrC that was in last year's October issue of Dragon?

What's the Ur-Priest?

Any suggestions on how to make villains of every class? Anything in there for using things like Monks and Bards as villains?

Hey Ray...

what I'd really like is some explanation of how sacrifice and possesion work? and how do they differ from the rules in Mongoose's Demonology book... (of course if you don't have that book it will be a bit hard... but the first part of the question would be great!)

Ok, more PrC run-downs...

Disciple of Baalzebul - 10 levels. You're a liar, cheat, and a thief. You get sneak attack, some bonuses to Bluff, a few spell like abilities (suggestion, etc), some summoning abilities, and some Cha boosting.

Disciple of Dispater - 10 levels. Warlike General of Evil. You have a great affinity for metal (Dispater being in Dis, the iron pit). You get some attack abilities relating to iron or steel weapons, several spell-like abilities related to iron (rusting grasp, a few others), and some summoning abilities.

Disciple of Mammon - 10 levels. You take what you want when you want it, you're quick to betray your friends and allies, and are willing to do embarrassing or awkward things to get what you want. You get several bonuses related to thiefly skills, along with some spell-like abilities to further those aims. They're hard to detect, and can deflect spells. Also summoning abilities.

Disciple of Mephisopheles - Weilds hellfire and all things fire-related. 10 levels. Lots of fire-related abilities - they can throw it, are resistant to it, are better with spells that use it, and can turn himself into it. Also summoning abilities.

Lifedrinker - 10 levels. A vampire's vampire. Vampire PrC. Stores energy (blood) in his Lifewell. He can accumulate points in his Lifewell from using his energy drain attack. He can spend the points to boost spell power or his attacks. Also gets better at draining blood and some more stuff.

Mortal Hunter - 10 levels. PrC for outsiders that hunt mortals, oddly enough. Gets favored enemy, mortals, some shape-shifting, detecting, and smiting abilties, along with several other abilties to make it bad to be a mortal. Also gets a small (paladin-like) spell progression.

Soul Eater - 10 levels. This is basically a soul vampire. After draining a soul (energy drain-like attack) he can power a host of powerful abilities (stat increases, shape-shifting, combat abilities, etc.).

Thrall of Demogorgon - 10 levels. A madman that seeks out the morbid and bizarre. Gets either four bonus feats, or 4 spellcaster levels. Gains some natural armor, several nasty touch attacks (fear, etc), and several abilities related to Demogorgon's dual nature (split personality). Also summoning abilities.

Thrall of Graz'zt - 10 levels. Sinister, conniving, evil master of arcane lore and dark secrets. 6 levels of spellcasting progression. A kind of sneak attack with spells thing. Summoning abilities, and bonuses to Cha-based skills.

Thrall of Juiblex - 10 levels. Oozy, nasty people. You get more ooze-like as you go. You can summon oozy things and also demons. Also get several oozy powers.

Thrall of Orcus - 10 levels. Tool of misery, murder, and revenge. Prefers the company of undead. Like the Thrall of Demogorgon, gets either four bonus feats, or four levels of spellcasting progression. Some summoning abilities. You make yourself more like a demon or undead. Some spell like abilities relating to fear. Bonus vile feats. Some minor shape-shifting abilites.

Ur-Priest - 10 levels. Priests that despise gods. They siphon away divine power and use it for themselves without having to pray to a god. Gain a slow spell progression that goes all the way to 9th level spells. Can rebuke undead, has some SR, and can cause havoc by siphoning away others spells or abilities.

Vermin Lord - 10 levels. People who like creepy crawly things. 6 levels of spellcasting. Some insect-like natural armor, some vermin companions, some spell-like abilities that make him more vermin-like.

Warrior of Darkness - 10 levels. Evil fighter that uses magical rituals to enhance his combat ability. Can make a host of oils and elixers that grant him various feats or combat perks. Also can enhance his weapons, gains some DR and SR.

Don't have Demonology, but I'll tell what I know. Any fiend of a certain hit dice and Charisma can attempt a possession. The person possessed might not even know they're possessed. The fiend can mentally "hide" from their host. The demon can alternately help the person by providing a stat bonus, attempt to control them, or harm them by providing a stat penalty.

Also fiends can possess objects. The effects can range from the item animating to the item becoming a corrupt, foul thing that radiates harmful evil magic.

Sacrifice goes this way. The person makes a sacrifice, then rolls a Knowledge (religion) check. The check they get determines what kind of reward they get. A high check could result in a limited wish for the celebrant (sacrificer). A lower one might just be an aid spell. You can alter the check in your favor depending on how vile the ritual is. If the ceremony is long, or on a alter, or in a descrated area, or performed in front of an audience... these all provide bonuses.

Nothing like that I'm afraid, but a few of the PrCs might help make a particularly evil what-have-you. Take a look at the feats, spells, or magic items. Something might leap out at you as something that could assist in making a particularly evil, off-the-beaten-path villain.

Alas, I haven't received my copy of the book yet; I hope that WotC fires the person responsible.

Shouldn't you be wanting them to ritually disembowel them in a sacrifice to Demon Lord of the Week?

My only issue is with the monster names. Are they running out of inspiration? Now we have Kytons and Kythons and I'm supposed to keep them separate? How about Jariliths and Mariliths? Is the Fiend Folio going to have Kariliths, Lariliths, Nariliths and Oariliths?

Not sure about that, but I did hear they will have several variations based on orcs:

Aorcs
Borcs
Corcs (or Corks, if you prefer)
Dorcs (or Dorks)
Eorcs (I heard this will be a small blue donkey-like orc complete with pin on tail)
Forcs (or Forks)

etc...
