Here's one for you. An old D6 Star Wars game - our GM gave us maps (topographical and street), briefing documents (complete with Confidential stamped on them), and a floor plan for the office building we were supposed to be at - to protect some big shot from an assassin. Oh, and he said we had the week to prepare.
We went over that thing hardcore! We had five exits routes planned, along with contingency plans for each route. We hired extra mercs and placed them strategically in a five-block radius (as counter snipers and the such). We bought and modified droids to maintain "a bird's eye view of the situation". We bought encrypted comlinks. That was Plan Beta.
Plan Alpha was more direct. We blew up the office building an hour before the meeting - making it impossible for our client to attend. We thought we were brillant.
Then the GM handed us his game notes. Huh. Seems our client wasn't the target, but some other big shot who was going to be at that meeting. Oh, and he worked in that office building. We did the assassin's work for him.
And that's a typical, non-Special Forces game for ya. Yeah, we're freaks!
