Plane Shift Dominaria

At https://media.wizards.com/2018/downloads/magic/Plane_Shift_Dominaria.pdf.

It does omit some parts of the world: "For that reason, I made the decision in this article to focus on the Domains, omitting the regions of Urborg, Shiv, and Yavimaya"

Just skimming it, I noticed:

3 new monsters (no new angels, since Serra Angels can be covered by the MM angels).

Races: Avain, Kelden humans (built to be fighters)

They mention no-legged merfolk, but they aren't a race.

I was a little disappointed that there wasn't anything about Shiv in the PDF, but then I guess I can get all of that information from the art book.

I have now ordered the art book.

Having read the planeshift article in a little more detail, Wyatt does mention that he limited what regions were in the article to just a single continent, it probably would have been a lot more work for him to include much of the rest of Dominaria. I really would like to get a high definition of the map of Dominaria for a game, much like established DnD settings, I think you could spend years playing in just this setting.

Here you go: https://jaredblando.com/prints/the-plane-of-dominaria-nexus-of-the-multiverse. It’s gonna cost you though!

Oh man, I'd love to get it. If it was available as a cloth print I'd snap it up in an instant. The same if I could get a high quality download.

Yeah the current print option is not ideal. Contact Blando abd see if there could be other possibilities in the near future?

The artbook arrived yesterday and I've had a good read through it, I was reminded of a lot of stuff from back when I first started playing MtG.

The great forest of Yavimaya highlights the war between green/nature and blue/artifice (I know anyone could cast aftifacts but blue seems to make a habit of using them). Now the forest no longer allows civilised races to live in it and actively moves to destroy any artifacts.

Benalia vs the Demonlord Belzenlok which is the typical white vs black. Something I only just realised is that in MtG demons seem to be almost always male to oppose the white angels which have always been female. There may be exceptions but I can't think of any.

Shiv is interesting in that the 4 races of goblins, humans, viashino (lizard people), and dragons are all in an alliance. A campaign based around maintaining this alliance could be interesting, so could a campaign based around breaking it.

The Tolarian academies could make for an interesting campaign where the players are all practioners of arcane magic (I'm thinking bards, wizards, arcane tricksters, eldritch knights, and sorcerers would be good for this type of campaign). They have three schools based on the original founders of the academy which could make interesting backgrounds as well as some shadow schools based on Mishra and Gix who were pro-Phyrexia. The players could perhaps be tasked with rooting out the shadow schools or with exploring Dominaria and digging up the past looking for ancient artifacts.

I think it would be a great setting to use with just enough information but still leaving huge gaps that can be filled in by the DM and, if you trawl through some of the old and new sets set in Dominaria, you could probably come up with some good locations that you can use.

Male = Demons, Female = Angels seems incredibly sexists towards men.
