Heinrich Stronghand:[sblock] The rattle of Heinrich's armor coupled with his heavy footfalls prompted a moment of silence from the speakers outside. After a couple of heartbeats, the voices began speaking again. Straining to hear their words, Heinrich could catch bits and pieces of the conversation (Listen check = 20); both speakers sounded male, and their odd vernacular seemed to mark them as natives to the city.
"If this ain't the place, I'm fer givin' this rig the laugh," one muttered. "This whole thing turned into cake ever since that imp piker apparently got himself mazed or lost or whatever."
"Aye, well, someone's clankin' around in there," replied the other. "An' from the sounds of it, he's in a tin can, too. Ain't no Hardhead or Mercykillers around, so my jink's on it bein' one of them primes."
His companion grunted in response, but said nothing. A few moments passed, then, from a distance, Heinrich could make out the clanking approach of someone in heavy armor. The racket drew closer and closer until one of the voices hissed out in alarm:
"Oi! Stow that barrikin! Soddin' reaves. If this ride's gonna happen right, it's gotta happen now. Pike the others, they can catch up later."
With that, the now slightly-softer clanking moved away, toward the front of the boarding house by Heinrich's reckoning.[/sblock]
