Planescape 3.5e - Cold Black Mask

Boarding House Siege - Round 2

Stealthily (Move Silently 21, Hide 29), the diminuitive István snaked his way underneath the table and took a harrying slash at the armored individual's legs. The thick metal greaves turned most of the force of the blow, however. (AC 20 [-4 for Cover] hits; 5 damage before DR; Full Plate grants DR 4/-). Feeling the sudden impact against his leg, the four-armed brute grunted and peered under the rough wooden table. Two pairs of eyes peered out from under the armored helm, but failed to discover the source of the attack. (István's Hide = 21).

The four-armed warrior wasn't dim; he knew that he had been attacked from somewhere under the table. Two low, vicious mace-swipes sent shattered wooden stools flying. (Attacks D3; no targets.)

There is a bout of eldritch chanting, and Sindr suddenly re-appeared alongside Pierce, a fist-sized stone in hand. With a forceful hurl Sindr sent the stone flying through the air, crackling with arcs of electricity. The armored humanoid caught the attack full in the chest, and he staggered and went down with a crack of thunder. (Reflex Save fails, 15 damage before DR; Fort Save fails, Dazed; Reflex Save fails, target falls prone.)

Heinrich Stronghand stepped forward, ancient words pouring form his lips as he called upon the power of his god. A bright, gleaming blade materialized in the air next to the armored warrior and dove forward of it own volition, striking the brute's armor with a loud clang. (AC 27 hits; Damage 8 before DR.)

The two thugs moved in concert to attack the holy champion but Heinrich was familiar with their tactics and easily parried their daggers with sword and shield. (T2's "Aid Other" attempt fails; T1 Attacks at AC 18, misses).

The former Shou refugee Cang Lao, who had been cautiously appraising the battle up to this point, stepped forward to stand alongside Heinrich. His eyes took on a far-away tone for a moment, and a shimmering, emerald-colored field enveloped his body. His steel longsword dealt a stinging blow to the thug who attacked Heinrich. (Cang uses Biofeedback; attack vs. AC 14 hit; Damage 8 before DR).

Pierce stood alongside her employer, daring anyone to make a stand against her. The two human thugs were of little consequence, but the third -- the armor-plated, four-armed warrior -- she knew to respect. He was a Reave; one of the battle-hardened mercenary races common to Acheron. They lived for conflict, but they were also sticklers for the rules of "honorable" combat. Perhaps she could use that knowledge to her advantage.

OOC: Isida, since the "Intimidate" skill in combat only affects foes that your character threatens, I'll let you revise your actions.

"You'd be canny to keep the door closed."

"Aye, I hear that," the shadowswyft agreed with a wary backwards glance. He re-entered Dinah's room, giving Hampton a wide berth. "We've got things to talk about, you and us," he continued to Anthony.

Leaving the brilliant blade to continue striking at the apparent leader, Heinrich yells a wordless battle cry as he brings his own more mundane weapon to bear with the full force of his spell-enhanced muscles.

OOC: Attack T2 at +11 for 1d8+4 damage, the Spiritual Weapon attacks Rz (round 2 of 4) at +9 for 1d8+1 again. Also, since the Spiritual Weapon does force damage, it shouldn't be subject to DR, even DR /-.

"I agree." Anthony enters the rooms after the shadowswyft and shuts the door, all the while keeping a calm and collected demeanor. He waits for the thugs to speak up first.

[sblock=OOC]Unless it has some special ability that says otherwise, the Reave is stunned for 1 round (-2 AC, no dex bonus to AC, drops all held items), not dazed. Sindr, on the other hand, is dazed, so no action for him this next round. The reave should be easy pickings for Istvan and the spiritual weapon now, though, and it's going to have to spend some time picking up all those maces![/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]I'd like some clarification on the reeve's condition before I declare my actions. If it has in fact dropped both its maces then István will take two move-equivalent actions to pick them up and then take a 5-ft. step to B4 while remaining hidden. :D [/sblock]

[Sblock=OOC]I don't believe there's a hard rule about how much one can hold in one empty hand. It's not as if István is going to be trying to wield them so he can afford a less than ideal grip. I can easily imagine picking two such objects up in one hand; István is a pretty dextrous guy after all.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]They're two three foot long shafts of wood that weigh 16 lbs. together; yeah that'd bump him up to a medium load, but it's not like he's trying to move clunky furniture or bodies. If the reeve has dropped the maces, then István will deal with the encumbrance penalties he suffers from picking them up. There's a difference between something being difficult and it being impossible.[/sblock]

"Stop!" Pierce thunders, banging her made on her sheild with a loud clang. "Reave, I challenge you, warrior to warrior, in a duel of honor. Let us battle in a fair arena, not this place of civilians' comfort and board. Let us fight as equal combatants, not as thugs," she calls loudly, taking a step forward in front of Sindr, her words directed to the Reave alone, as if the other two thugs don't even matter.
