Planescape 3.5e - Cold Black Mask

ooc: Sorry again for the delays; no car-jacking by wildlife, but haven't been able to connect to internet reliably until now. :p

Boarding House Siege - Round 3

Seizing the opportunity, István darted forward and grasped two of the reave's unattended maces by their steel hafts. Still reeling from Sindr's magic attack, the monstorus warrior didn't notice the gnome drag his weapons under the table and into hiding. (Hide 28, Move Silently 19; Move to B4)

Stunned, the Reave shook his head violently, trying to end the ringing in his ears. A gleam of battle-lust in his eyes showed that he heard the spiker's challenge, however. (Stunned; No action possible this round)

Sindr, too, staggered from the power of the magical blast he had just unleashed. (Dazed; No action possible this round)

His protective aura gleaming brightly, Cang Lao directed another slash of his sword toward one of the human toughs. His opponent nimbly danced out of the blade's way. (Attack's T2, AC 10 misses)

Heinrich's sword and its spiritual twin flashed in eerie synchronization as the champion pressed forward his attack. His own weapon crashed hard into his foe's hasty defense, while the incoporeal sword clanged like a bell as it beat upon the stunned reave. (Attack vs T2; AC 21 hits, 10 damage before DR. Spiritual Weapon attacks Reave; AC 18 hits, 4 damage, DR does not apply)

The Two Thugs split their attacks against their Shou and Cormyrian opponents. Cang's aura flashes brightly as one blade crashes against it, but the eastern warrior looks none the worse for wear. Heinrich again easily deflects the attack directed at him. (T1 attacks Cang; AC 24 hits, no damage due to DR. T2 attacks Heinrich; AC 13 misses)

With the door closed, things were fairly crowded in Dinah's room. The half-elven thug retained his grip on the woman, and both he and the human in the corner glanced suspiciously and the aasimar and suddenly-friendly shadowswyft. The fhorge grunted and moved to stand protectively at the aasimar's side.

"I go by Bhoer," the plane-touched thug in question began once the room was secure. "You probably haven't tumbled to the dark of why we're here, have you? To be honest, we ain't all that interested in you; not really. It's the company you've been keepin' earlier today; trio of primes, one short piker, a tiefer, one all doughtied-up like a good soldier-boy. See where I'm headed with this?"

Anthony nods. "Aye, what do ye want with em?" He looks at the Half-Elf. "Do ye mind takin your hands off her, cutter? We aren't goin' anywhere."

Recovering from the force of his initial magical onslaught, Sindr carefully steps backwards into the corner of the room and gathers more mystical energy around him. Two silvery blasts of energy dart from his outstretched palms, weaving around intervening obstacles to slam hard into the pair of thugs in the middle of the room. A split second after the first two blasts appear, the runes around the hem of his silk gloves flare and a third streaks forth. The three blasts don't fade when they strike their targets; instead, they seem to burrow straight through and arc around to return to Sindr's outstretched hands.

[sblock=OOC]5' step to K1. Cast magic missile targeting the two normal thugs, using 1 daily charge of Sindr's arcanist's gloves to add 2 to his caster level (and thus add another missile) and 1 daily charge of his circlet of mages to retain the spell after casting it. The third missile will strike whichever of the two thugs seems more hurt at the time, or the one attacking Heinrich if they seem about even. If one of the thugs is already down at that point, all three of the missiles will hit the remaining thug. If both thugs are down somehow, Sindr will hold his fire out of respect for Pierce's challenge to a duel. Each of the three missiles deals 1d4+1 damage.[/sblock]

Having deftly darted beneath the table, the whisper gnome places (dropping objects as a free-action) the four-armed warrior's pair of maces in the shadowy area beneath the far table (into square B5). Without skipping a beat, István darts back under cover of the table (5-ft. step into C3) to remain hidden (Hide +23, Move Silently +17) while he snatches up the brute's two other dropped maces (using two move-equivalent actions to pick up objects).

OOC: Applying +1 Dodge bonus to reeve

Yay! We're back! Happy New Year!

Heinrich take a moment to redirect the glowing blade to his own target, deciding to try to thin the enemies' ranks while their leader is temporarily out of the fight, and both spell and steel slash out at the embattled foe, doing their best to draw his blood.

[sblock=OOC]
OOC: Attack T2 at +11 for 1d8+4 damage, move action redirects Spiritual Weapon to T2, and it attacks (round 3 of 4) at +9 for 1d8+1. Also, what kind of armor are the thugs wearing?

Boarding House Siege - Round 4 ooc: I'm still unpacking from the winter holidays; I'll have the map back up next round. ;)

One again, István moved forward with uncanny stealth to grab the reave's two remaining weapons and drag them out of reach. (Hide 32, Move Silently 34, Move to C3)

Regaining his facilities and growing tired of games, the irate Reave grabbed the edge of the wooden table with two powerful arms and, with a mighty heave, upended the entire thing. His shelter suddenly removed, István found himself exposed and caught red-handed, still grasping the reave's last two maces. (Cover in B-D 3 removed)
Pierce Spinecrusher said:
"Reave, I challenge you, warrior to warrior, in a duel of honor."
"Don't you worry, spiker," the reave replied in a rough voice. "I'll be comin' for ya just as soon as I get my arms back from this little cranium rat, here."

Three silvery bolts shot from Sindr's gloved hands, one striking the thug fighting Cang and the other two slamming into Heinrich's foe in rapid succession. The three bolts arced in the air and returned to Sindr's outstretched hands. (T1 takes 3 damage, no DR; T2 takes 6 damage, no DR)

Cang Lao takes advantage of his opponent's momentary distraction and manages to land a solid blow with his sword, cutting deep into the man's left arm. (Attack vs T1, scores Critical Hit)

Heinrich continues his fight against the second thug, while at the same time directing the glowing blade of force to his aid. Now defending against two attacks, his foe is overmatched and takes a small wound across the lower torso from the spiritual sword. (Attack vs T2, AC 29 hits; 9 damage before DR. Spiritual Weapon attacks, AC 16 hits; 3 damage, no DR)
ooc: The thugs are wearing basic leather armors.

Somewhat less enthusiastically, the Thugs continue to fight. The one opposing Cang can't seem to land solid blow, but the second snakes in a clever strike that slips past Heinrich's defenses. Just before impact, the two additional prongs spring from the side of the tough's dagger. The blow rings across Heinrich's chestplate and knocks some wind from him, but he is relatively unharmed. (T1 vs Cang, AC 13 misses; T2 vs Heinrich, Natural 20 threatens, no crit; 3 VP damage after DR)

Status/Effects:
All = Bless, 36 Rounds
Sindr = Mage Armor, 3 hours
Heinrich = Bull's Strength, 36 rnds; Divine Vigor, 16 rnds; Protection from Evil, 36 rnds

Thug 1 = Uncertain in Battle; Seriously Wounded
Thug 2 = Fighting Desperately; Lightly Wounded
Reave = Under Pressure

Anthony Orchidaceae said:
"Do ye mind takin your hands off her, cutter? We aren't goin' anywhere."
The half-elf looked ready to make a snide comment, but Bhoer quickly cut him off. "The feather's right, Vezi; they ain't goin' anywhere."

Vezi's eyes narrowed suspiciously, but he took his hand off Dinah's shoulder. She quickly moved to stand beside Anthony.

"It's not really the primes we want," the shadowswyft continued casually, in response to Anthony's question. "But our boss, he owes it to some baatezu high-up to bring back some particular item these primes have with on them."[/color=yellow] He gave a short laugh. "Thing is, no one the dark of which primes we were looking for, exactly, so we just went around scraggin' whatever fresh lemons we came across. Doesn't matter to us, really; baatezu pay good jink for fresh recruits even if they ain't what they're looking for." He gave a sly smile.

"Chant is, though, that we've got it right with your primes."

Sindr frowns as the four-armed thug makes known its intention to 'deal' with Istvan, and the other two thugs continue to assault his other companions. "Y'know how rude 'tis t' jus' barge in on a buncha people what's sleepin' an' threaten their gracious host? I t'ink y'need t' learn some manners. Night-night, boys."

With that, his hands glide through the intricate gestures of another spell, and with a poof! of displaced air, a billowing cloud of brightly glowing motes of energy explodes into existence, quickly coating the thugs.
[sblock=OOC]Casting glitterdust so that as many thugs as possible are covered in its 10 foot radius spread without any party members getting hit as well. Priority goes to the reeve. Each thug needs to make a DC 17 Will save or be blinded for 4 rounds.[/sblock]

Anthony turns to the suspicious Half-Elf. "Thanks, Vezi, and relax. If I wanted a fight I'd have had Hampton start one wouldn't I? Why don't ye take a seat."

They don't seem to be very capable bashers. Unlike those primes, not to mention that Spiker, and the Zerth lookin' human. They know there are folks after them... Sod it, this isn't my problem.

"Alright, so ye want to know where these primes are, is that it? I can tell ye, but I'd appreciate it if you'd please stop scraggin' my customers. You know, we all have to make a livin'. They seemed like reasonable sorts, so I think if you take a diplomatic approach they'll listen, and you'll get away without drawin' any more attention than ye need to. I don't know anythin about a mask though, so if they've got it, they weren't makin' a fuss over it. So I'll tell ye, but I'd like something from you bloods in return."

OOC: CG, did István receive an AoO against the Reave for its having moved an object in his threatened square?

István quickly straightens up as the long table beneath which he was hiding is thrown aside by the four-armed troll.
the Reave said:
"I'll be comin' for ya just as soon as I get my arms back from this little cranium rat, here."
The wily wayfarer raises an eyebrow and smiles secretly beneath his thick scarf as his only response to the brute. Taking a firm grip on its two remaining weapons, István turns and swiftly rushes out the shattered door in a blur of movement (withdrawing and moving to 0-E as the first part of a full-round move action).

Rushing out into the dark night, the wayfarer quickly circles the boarding house and drops the brute's weapons into a shadowy niche along the spikeward-side of the building (as a free action, into square 1-E). Without pause, István turns and rushes back towards the boarding house door (moving to A-3 as the second part of a full-round move action), stopping just inside the common room. Raising his eyebrows questioningly towards the reave, the whisper-gnome raises his crystal shard into a guard position.

The blade of Heironeous makes one last glittering slash before winking out and Heinrich puts all his might behind his strike, bellowing "Fall before justice, criminal," as he brings it down in a simple but savage blow.

[sblock=OOC]Final attack for Spiritual Weapon at +9 for 1d8+1, Heinrich will Power Attack for -4/+4 and attack at +7 for 1d8+8 damage.[/sblock]
