PLANESCAPE: The Awakening

Vorkhek paces, his face a roiling storm of dark emotions. "Sho why'ya god ush catshing da yawn here? waitin' fer sumun ta coff up sum garnish?"

As he waits, Vorkhek brings up again and again the mental picture of the investigator that broke into his mind. Sooner or later he was gonna peel the sod, slowly, if circumstances allowed. The idea of a second faction war was a delicious one though. He had missed the first one while stuck on that backwater, with nothing to eat but .... Even now the thought made him shudder a little. But his brother's warrior's heart had made him strong. And the shaman's brain had brought him close to the spirit animals. And the others of his clan? No matter, it would be top-shelf to see the cage run red. And maybe, if enough factols got peeled, he'd get a shot at becoming a high-up

Shadrin backs away from the investigator with his best wounded "what-did-I-do?" face, betrayed slightly by his barely concealed grin. He looks over at the orc speaking, glad to know he's not the only one annoyed by being held.

"Well, I'm not losing any jink on account of this business. All I know is I could care less about this little mystery here. I stay out of other's matters and they USUALLY..." he says with emphasis as he looks at the investigator. "...stay out of mine."

...And the suspects still remain. Soon, another regiment of Sodkillers enters the crime scene, and talk of removing the body is overheard. The Dusties will not be happy to hear that one of their leaders was given an unnatural, "False" death. Happiness never was one of their strong points anyways...

(longer, more involved post tommorrow)

Seeing how these guards are not above the conversation level of those at the City of Brass, Blaze turns both his eyes (the one with a red gem and the normal, incandescent one) to Shadrin, intrigued by one of his previous comments.

"Saib, did you mention the Bottle & Jug? is that a tavern? I could use some jet-black coffee after we're finished here..."

Shadrin looks at the unusual-looking Blaze closely, looking at the genasi intently for a moment before responding.

"Hmmm...well, the Bottle & Jug is a tavern but not where I would go for a good drink. In fact, I would avoid the Hive altogether if I was hoping for anything vaguely resembling a good time. Only come here on business and even that I try to avoid. I was trying to get back to Bedlam by way of Pandemonium before this caravan left for Arborea. Hoping to do a little trade but, with this delay, that's not going to be possible. So, since I'll have some time to kill, I'll show you some good places in some nicer wards. That is, if you're buying."

Hive: don't go without backup, possible place where to hear stuff... Ask about Bedlam...

Blaze nods quietly as the man makes his briefing, "As you can observe, Saib, I'm new to this city. Therefore, it would serve me well to learn of its ways... about your trade interests... I have contact with Daaleri al-Deliz al-Jerebek ben Remi, a trader of renown with his headquarters recently moved to Sigil" Bless the efreet for the aeons, for his contacts and the key

A few seconds of silence follow until the genasi smiles and adds:
"And yes, I'm paying"

Land Outcast said:
"And yes, I'm paying"

Shadrin smiles at his new acquaintance, his white teeth, pale skin, strange dark hair, and red eyes giving him a wicked appearance.

"Excellent. My name is Shad Molgen. It's nice to meet you, despite the circumstances. What brings you to the Cage? A better question would be, what took you so long to get here? Most newcomers are silly Primer clueless looking to get pealed by the first cutter they cross paths with. You don't have that look about you, except the clueless part."

The hobgoblin looks at Blaze with a raised eyebrow, a surprised expression soon hitting his face. Gran'shra asks, "You are a fire genasi, are you not? Amazing. This may be a forward question, but have you ever been to the City of Brass? It's something I wish I could see sometime in my life."

A slight smile curled the genasi's lips, he is again in his element. It seems this city allows not only fiends... laws seem to be more lax than at the City. Demon or devil?

"So, Shad... Blaze is the name, information gatherer, mediator, and negotiator, this city seems more fertile ground for my works but I have yet to attune myself to its music", he adds in Infernal "is this a tongue you speak?"

Then he shifts to face the hobgoblin, but still in front of Shad Molgen
"You are a fire genasi, are you not? Amazing. This may be a forward question, but have you ever been to the City of Brass? It's something I wish I could see sometime in my life."

Curious, seems too much like the clueless visitors to the City... but there is something familiar about him... different from the other coldskins
"Yes Saib, I come precisely from the only place in the Everburning Plane where water doesn't vanish into a flash of steam and food doesn't turn into an inedible lump of charcoal and ash. From Arches to Ashlarks to Avencina, from The Red Pillar Halls to the Breath of the Sultan to the Barracks of the Ring of Fire.
I know the city itself better than the Grand Sultan. I could arrange to get you there... for a price. What aroused your interest in the Grand Domain of the Efreet, Saib?"

Feeling increasingly anxious as yet more "law enforcement officials" file onto the scene, Fhetek decides there may be a smaller chance of being randomly arrested if he doesn't appear to be all alone. Noticing what seems to be an amiable conversation between a genasi, a goblin-kin, and someone approximately human, he casually wends his way to within a couple of yards of the gathering, trying to look like he belongs there if any guards glance his way.
