Planetary exploring in films, tv and video games

Hey, its been awhile since started a thread here. I am needing help searching for movies, tv shows and video games that has characters that are planetary explores or space rangers (similar D&D type rangers and scouts) that help crew travel through the planets' landscape. This is the best way to explain what I am looking for.

Maybe look at the Dune film and the tv series.

The Riddick film that just came out, focuses at first on Riddick being a survivalist that can manage to live on any planet. He is like a level 15 ranger (with animal companion).

Maybe the John Carter of Mars film? Not great, but I guess is helped a bit.

There is a Space Ranger in that movie.

In Stargate SG-1, this is part of Teal'c's role on the team - he's been to a variety of Go'auld-controlled worlds, and has some working knowledge of other worlds.

In Stargate Atlantis, Telya and Ronon share this role.

Yeah, basically any movies that has a tracker character in the cast/group. I just could not think of the actual term/word for what I was trying to say. Tv Tropes entry for what I am looking is Scarily Competent Tracker but that list does now a whole and miss a lot too.
