Planning to do the Tomb of Horrors...

That's interesting as Amazon usually has the same release date as the "premiere" stores, but this time they don't. Boo-urns I say

Timing for a shop was around the same for Amazon.

However, Amazon told me they had shipped on the weekend and gave an ETA of August 21st. Rather strange, as the module isn't in stores in the US until Thursday, Friday here. Amazon do tend to be ahead.

Now I just need to find a mini that can double as Acererak as well as the bloke from Room 18 from the original. That is going in if it's not in already.

So, it's this week. Any more plans?

I suspect you meant July 21st. I know it's winter for you guys down there, but I'm fairly certain that you guys are on the same month I am.

Anyways, I hope you like it.

Starting in a new group tomorrow night playing it. I am waiting to see if the hype matches the reality. 4E is just too weaksauce for that type of adventure. I cannot imagine that WotC actually put out a seriously lethal adventure, but I'll find out soon. Maybe most of the traps and encounters will be n+4 or higher or some such.

No, I don't. My email from Amazon said it would arrive August 21st. Point is, it's in the post several days early.

And I have a flameskull and gargoyle on order.

It's not.

It's a great adventure, and it does have some suggestions on upping the lethality of it, but it's not going to come close to the original in that aspect unless you alter it.

No save and die traps...but there are fail-twice-and-die traps.

Have you seen the free one from wizards for LFR members? I would certainly not call it weaksauce. Maybe after defeating the cultists, Sheeva and company can explore the tomb :)

Weakening it kinda defeats the entire purpose that Tomb of Horrors was made for in the first: getting players to think and be creative. This is what I have said to my players when they have asked about the dungeon.

I am thinking of playtesting it online beforehand, either here or at Giant in the Playground.
