Player query about Actions...

I'd guess that your player is confused by the Double Move rules (PHB 284). That's the only place I can think of where you can add two Move Actions to get something else (or any other adding of two actions to get something else).

But regardless of where the error comes from, it's an error. There's no rule that lets you trade up lesser actions into bigger actions.

Even that doesn't make any sense because when you "double move", you move twice as far. There really isn't a whole lot that's funky about it.

It's OK

Let me put this more in context; he's using this custom class that I have had a lot of trouble balancing and has insisted upon using. One of the powers grants an extra move action (basically Boots of Speed (AV1 Pg126)). If you treat it like Boots of Speed then that is essentially the closest you can get to it in normal Vanilla rules.

I have good answers now, but anymore proving against the Standard action point he has will be most welcome.

Yes, tell him he can trade two move actions for a real character class. And a swift kick in the rear. :hmm::lol:

Of course, this all changes when you are allowing the PCs to write the rules for their character. His 'source' is himself. He says his custom created character class can do that, then it can I guess. He is basically the rulebook as far as his custom powers go.

Not surprisingly, I am not a fan of PC made classes, the reasons are too many to count, but chief among them is "but what I meant when I wrote that is..."

FYI the Master Infiltrator paragon class lets you have another free move action whenever you spend an action point. I love that feature, it gets me out of so many pickles I can hardly count. Especially when you have a move of 9 and can teleport.

Me too

Yeah, I have also decided that I despise custom classes. However, because I was the one who actually wrote most of the powers FOR him, he doesn't get much say like "I meant to write..." but sometimes little things like this crop up. Anyway, I have enough opinions specifically about it now to stop his argument.
