I wonder if anyone would adjudicate that (since a failed attempt to move the sphere can result in the sphere moving ten feet toward the person making the attempt) once the hole is reopened in a new location the person who opened the hole needs to make a successful attempt? If the sphere is attuned to a static location based on its relation to the core of a planet (given a turning world seemingly does not require the sphere to cut swaths of land as it circumnavigates the globe), does its relationship to that static location become upset if moved via a portable hole? Does the Sphere sense it has been moved? Maybe no matter how far it has been moved, once the portable hole is opened the sphere snaps back to its original location. Then it could go straight through a chunk of the planet with blinding speed as per the post by ThirdWizard.
