i love this, D&D without D&D/wizards, once again just like when Palzo broke off and formed Pathfinder which was just one company, but the whole OGL and all caused a much bigger divergence of people. Now yes, they did attract more people to the game and many will probably embrace the easy mode of 5e/one D&D but are these dedicated people? I think maybe a few, and of those most may start to look around and look back to older versions or 3rd part and discover what they are missing. And i really feel most will get tired and leave, much like those that play a video game beat it and move on to the next in-thing to do. And i really predict at some point D&D will be knocked off the top spot in the RPG hill, as to who it will be that will do it? not sure but i love the fact that in a way they caused a renaissance of old-school D&D and other new companies stepping up with their own versions of the game with a mix of different styles (shadowdark ).
