Poll Fiasco?

So you are running a poll (or polls in this case),

http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=218937

It becomes suddenly popular with links to other boards...fine...we can deal with that.

People are fighting in the poll about the links...fine, just ignore them...positive posts will outwiegh the negative...

Montecook makes negative comments on his message boards about the poll he promoted...em, ok...

It comes out that you can log out and "run up the poll". Probably true on lots of internet polls, but still doesn't sound good.

Thoughts?

As I mentioned in the thread, if you're after a secure voting system, an internet messageboard isn't the way to go. Polls here are good for a quick, fun, opinion-grab, but not for anything serious (we don't use them to vote in the ENnies, for example).

If people are getting riled up on other boards about a poll in a messageboard thread, that's their business; it doesn't worry me.

would it be to much to re-launch the poll?

As long as you're OK with the fact that it is in no way secure.

My advice? Don't worry so much about it. Nobody should be worrying about it; it's an internet messageboard poll; nothing more.

Thank you, Morrus. I am seriously considering quoting this the next time someone gets on the Rules Forum and demands a poll to decide an issue "once and for all." ;)
