How could he have known there were two, did they eat him alive?![]()
Ring of spell storing, level 21 Delayed Blast Fireball, max delay set, cast at max range. Problem was, the adventure was Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, and the targets were police robots...speed 96”.2nd ed wild surge fireball - triple area, triple damage. My PC was burned to a crisp, offending mage out of the area...
Will o'wisps are deadly! Alas, Charleois the young and errant paladino.
But with intestines instead of noodles.I picture it ending a bit like this:
Huh. Did he have a poor Con? Or do you rule that a natural 1 always fails a save? They are not harmless in 5E. DC10 Con Save is something a lotof PCs can fail, even at high levels. I threw 8 ghouls at a higher level party as part of a larger encounter. The barbarian decided to take them all on while the rest of the party took on other issues. That barbarian had to be rescued. He was 17th level.

Not immune to ghoul damage, though, and unless that Barbarian's AC is mighty good 8-on-1 has trouble written all over it.Huh. Did he have a poor Con? Or do you rule that a natural 1 always fails a save?
By the book, a level 17 barbarian with Con 16+ is effectively immune to ghoul paralysis.
I guess if he wasn't raging, maybe...? The odds favor the barbarian by my math. A 17th-level barbarian has an insane number of hit points, which are effectively doubled by raging. He can soak several rounds of attacks even at 8-to-1 odds, and he will shorten those odds very rapidly. Not immune to ghoul damage, though, and unless that Barbarian's AC is mighty good 8-on-1 has trouble written all over it.
Death by a thousand cuts.
