D&D 5E (2014) Poll: Which do you prefer to play more. A Fighter or a Rogue?

Which do you prefer to play more. A Fighter or a Rogue? Please feel free to explain why in the thread.

I like both, and often multiclass them. I like being characters that live by their wits and their weapons in a supernatural world(also a big fan of Batman). Usually I default to rogue though, as I really enjoy sneaking around. In 5e I'd -never- play a fighter in a group I'm unfamiliar with, as the amount of short rests you recieve makes or breaks my enjoyment of the class. 5e rogues lack any sort of rest mechanics, so they are a safer bet(though you have to deal with the deliberately vague stealth rules).

I like them about equally. It really comes down to what stupid name I feel like playing. My dashing 80s action hero rogue, Chuck Dagger, is always a blast, but so is my Roman-themed gladiator fighter Rex Buttox.

Right now I'm playing a wise-cracking, whip-cracking fighter/rogue in Tomb of Annihilation though - Iriaebor Ford, who is definitely not a total rip-off of Indiana Jones.

I like rogues a little more; I prefer the sneak attack mechanic to the multi-attack mechanic. That being said, fighter and rogue multiclass together like peanut butter and jelly.

Just curious. How many that picked the about equal option did so because of multiclassing fighter and rogue?

I voted "I prefer to play them both equally," but I'm sad to see Fighters getting so little love in the poll. Fighters are awesome! They are super versatile and easy to play. Extra attacks can be used for things like grappling and shoving. Action surge can be used to use an action to do something cool and then another action to wave your sword around violently. They are way hardier than rogues, so using them for rough and tumble swashbuckling action is safer. Rogues feel like they need to be Cunning Actioned out of harm's way all the time.

I would play a champion fighter all the time except I feel guilty the same way I feel guilty for eating the same tasty sandwich for lunch every day.

I love playing a fighter. I have been playing D&D for a long time and it was my first class. I return to it often.

I do still love a good rogue played the way I like to play them. I like to think of Rogues as more than just backstabbing damage monsters. I like to think of them as the clever problem solvers. Because of this it does not always work with every group I play with depending on the DM.

I thought I would enjoy the Rogue, because it has so many different options with which to use its bonus action. In practice, most of those bonus actions went toward fulfilling the conditions of sneak attack, so it felt more like I was just juggling an unnecessary ball than like I actually had extra options.

I like Fighters, but nothing beats Rogue for me.

A thieving roguish assassin. My first character was very much loved. While playing her I grew rather tired of the boys wanting to constantly search me for treasure. (In all honestly I was not being greedy or hoarding the "good stuff". Thieves Honor!) The foul vulgar paladin did nothing to defend the waif and slip of a girl. So during a fight, i set off a nasty poison gas trap, left the room and spiked the door behind me and waited for the lamentations of death to cease before returning to bring back the treasure for the parents of the poor link boys who died and the now fatherless bastards of the inn wenches. (After my administrative fees of course)
