Polymorphin' a vampire

Assume you use Polymorph Any Object to polymorph a vampire into, say, a toad. Have any of the following questions been answered?

1) It says that gaseous forms cannot be assumed by a creature affected by the spell. But, when you kill the toad, it reverts back to its original form. Does this mean it then goes into gaseous form and tries to reach its coffin?

2) If this is the case, when it reaches the coffin and passes the required hour to regenerate its body, would it then turn back into a toad if there was still time remaining in the spell duration?

3) Would taking the toad out in the sunlight harm it at all?

4) Since a vampire doesn't actually die when staked, if you drove a stake through the toad's heart, would it revert back to vampire form? If so, would it turn back into a toad when you removed the stake?

Okay, suppose you slap a Hold Monster on it before it can do that (which should work because it's technically a toad). Or a sleep spell, even.

Its Type is still Undead, so it still has Undead qualities - like immunity to Mind-Affecting spells.

Type does not change with Polymorph.

A vampire is a natural shapeshifter (Alternate Form: bat, dire bat, wolf, or dire wolf) so it could assume its natural form as a standard action.

Although you normally don't retain supernatural abilities when polymorphed, lycanthropes are listed as being able to take its natural form, even though its Alternate Form ability is supernatural. Likewise with vampires.

1) Yes.

2) No.

3) I would say yes. Being able to withstand exposure to sunlight can be considered a "new power," and polymorph any object doesn't allow you to add new powers except movement capabilities not available in the old form. Otherwise, a vampire wizard could just cast polymorph self and travel around in broad daylight at will.

4) Yes. No.

Polymorph Any Object can. You can turn a human into a rock...

The subject retains its own type (i.e. undead) even when polymorphed with polymorph any object. So hold monster and sleep would not work on a polymorphed vampire.

But hold person would work on a human polymorphed into a rock. :D
