Posting by candlelight

Aeson

I am the mysterious professor.
The power has gone out. I have my trusty laptop and dialup. So what do you do all alone in the dark? Well you post about being all alone in the dark on Enworld. As I post the good guys ay our power company is driving down the road. I hope they can fix it.

I havn't had a black out where I live since the big one in the US two years ago. What I did was sleep as much as possible so that time would go as fast as possible until I could huddle around the warm glow of electricity once again :) .

At night with no power it sucks, but in the day you might not have work/school and that is always good, it lets you catch up on reading and maybe even play a board/card game or two.

Well I was in the middle of watching MY Atlanta Falcons playing on MNF.

I prefer the power to go out during the day also. I can still read that Tom Clancy book I just started. I have yet to begin chapter 1 and there has already been a hijacking and bums being collected off of the streets of NY for some nafarious reasons.

The last time we had blackouts around here it was a "We didn't think about the implications of our decision." consequence. Which included a "They're ripe for being buggered." observation by a now defunct utility company in Texas.

But instead of unexpected unplanned outages we had unexpected planned outages.

We're also giving anti-powerplant lawsuits short shrift these days. :D

And he said let there be LIGHT!!!!! There was and he said it was good. The power has returned. I would love to know why it went out. The light flickered for awhile before so I had a warning. I went around turning everything off.

We had a weird brown out a couple of months ago where our power didn't exactly go out, it just made everything very dim... until the power company started working on it, at which point they just shut it off. We were powerless for the whole night and most of the next day. Showering + No power = COLD.

However, not as bad off as most of our relativesin South Dakota had it after the recent blizzard(s). The Univere's family didn't have power for nearly 2 weeks, luckily they have a generator. Can't say the same for a lot of the rural residents and it has been FRIGID. Burrr!

Glad to see you've got your power back, Aeson! :)

yeah it was weird. The lights in my house as well as the other houses on the street started flickering for awhile before. I called my mom and asked if the were executing someone. She said "not here and not right now". She called the power company to report it and never had to talk to someone. It was all automated. I figure if she did get a person on the phone they would be in India.

My mom has been causing a rash of power outages around the house with her 'space heaters'. It is driving me nuts, because every time it happens I am on my computer.

There's why the power went out! Watching those sucky Falcons.... :p

Seriously, I hate it when it goes out, especially in the winter. Had it go out for a week during that huge ice storm we had 3 years ago. Went to bed early alot as there was nothing to do after dark. Except for one night when I lit three candles to sit and read a book while buried under a comforter and sweatpants and a sweatshirt.

You guys had a baby boom in the area 9 months later didn't you? I don't know what it is when people have nothing better to do they feel the need to have sex.
