Pre-Gen Con WotC Press Conference

My deep insider sources have told me the announcement is about the new E-Minis.

Collectible, 3-D, electronic minis you can now use with a variety of online games and avatar reliant software. Sizes range from Tiny to Huge and download packages are sold in random bundles of Common, Uncommon, and Rare E-Mini figurines. Game statistics are included in the Properties field for each E-mini file as well as a separate 2-page PDF Stat Card detailing skirmish and roleplaying features. (Future Epic stat cards are likely).

Products include:

D&D E-Mini Entry Pack which includes the 12 standard E-Minis, their 12 corresponding PDF stat cards, four GIF battlemaps, PDFs of both quick-start and advanced play rulebooks, and a free electronic dice roller (PC-compatible only).

D&D E-Mini Expansion Packs which include 8 random E-Minis and PDF stat cards.

D&D E-Mini Icons for massive file-size individual E-Minis.

D&D E-Mini Map packs with backgrounds, desktop, and screensaver images.

Future Products to include:

D&D E-Mini Dungeon Tiling Software for creating personally crafted dungeons for play with E-Mini figurines.

4e club

Any mention of the meeting on Choose Death has disappeared except for the comments.
Gaming Report has not said anything.
EnWorld has not posted anything. And Morrus wanted to tell us before he went in.

My theory: 4e just got "announced"

That is: they told those who have a stake in 3e (major news outlets, possibly goodman, possibly necro, etc.) that work was beginning on 4e soon and when the launch date was. But before they were told that they were told not to talk about it:

The Rules of 4e Club:

1. You don't talk about 4e Club.
2. You sign your NDA and you DON'T talk about 4e Club!

Or it was the most anticlimactic news ever.

Yep, this will not be secret news. The statement says this will be what everyone is talking about the next morning. There won't be NDAs about what is talked about after the fact. The real question is just what is so important that everyone will be talking about it the next morning. Somehow I don't think that the DI is that interesting so it better be good. 4E is a strong contender.

Curry? In Indiana?

Actually, there's an awesome Indian place within walking distance of the convention center. More food variety in Indianapolis than you'd think.

But, speaking as someone from North Carolina, the concept of true sweet tea is apparently nonexistant in the state. Bah!

They've signed a deal with Gary to release 1E as 4E. Victory!

But ... you can get all the AD&D 1e books on eBay for dollars apiece. If all you want are the rules from 30 years ago, why would you need Wizards to reprint them as $30 hardbacks?

You take that back. Here in south-eastern Indiana, Sweet-Tea is a familial secret. It's not totally unknown, but good luck finding it at a restaurant.

I'll try to talk my girlfriend into whipping up a few mason jars worth to smuggle in for ya.
