Given that diaglo works at the Centers for Disease Control (and, specifically, on tuberculosis, IIRC), one suspects that he would be considered "not safe to eat", sort of like fish that contain mercury.

I have been feeling an urge to eat all manner of junk food recently... now I know why! I warn you, though, half an hour off a plane after 14 hours of travelling via car, train and two aircraft, I ain't gonna be smelling too good when I get there!

Unless it's another in the "Complete" or "Compendium" series sourcebooks.
Or another Forgotten Realms sourcebook.
