Level 8 Treasure
An unadorned urn filled with sand. Buried in the sand is 897 gp, 68 sp, 20 cp + 1 sapphire (1000 gp). The coins are stamped with the image of a Bael Turothian Sorcerer-King. They are in good condition.

One of the copper pieces radiates magic. If flipped, it always comes up heads.

No, no. I can spontaneously make up fluff text until your ears bleed. It's level-based item lists and their descriptions (i.e. avoiding the "lets grab the rulebook and look them up situation) that I'm after.

I can describe the coins just fine. :)

I go into the character builder before the game, and print power cards for all the items I'm going to drop in a session. Cut them out, then during the game, after the encounter when they search instead of telling them what they find and expecting them to look it up and apply it to there stats I simple throw the cards on the table.

Sure, that's the obvious way to do it. Except, as my initial post said:

I know I should prepare these myself before the game but - hey - I'm lazy!

I'm not really after answers which basically say "don't be lazy". :)

Ah, cool.

Here's the link to Asmor's Quartermaster: Quartermaster - Asmor.com

I think it might be exactly what you are looking for. I assumed everyone had already heard of it! ;)

Never heard of it! But it looks pretty close to what I need.

Couple of issues with it - I can't ask for a "9th level treasure parcel". And the one example I just tried gave me a result including:

[Level 13 Magic Item]: Orb of Inevitable Continuance +3 (Player's Handbook, page 238 [Orbs])
And when I clicked on the DDI link next to it I got a list of:

Orb of Inevitable ContinuanceOrb3680 GP Player's HandbookOrb of Inevitable ContinuanceOrb83,400 GP Player's HandbookOrb of Inevitable ContinuanceOrb1885,000 GP Player's HandbookOrb of Inevitable ContinuanceOrb23425,000 GP Player's HandbookOrb of Inevitable ContinuanceOrb1317,000 GP Player's HandbookOrb of Inevitable ContinuanceOrb282,125,000 GP Player's Handbook

(i.e. no actual level 13 item).

So what I'm hoping exists is something similar to that which

(a) lists the treasure in an "x-level treasure parcel"

(b) provides the DDI stats for said items

(c) lets me hit "print" to produce the list so I can give it to my players.

It doesn't have to be dynamilically generated by a web application - a PDF which includes few hundred pre-designed treasure parcels would work best.

Maybe I've just thought of EN Publishing's next product if this doesn't exist?

Morrus may not want this, but I do!

Forgot the next part.

I, like someone mentioned above, select a bunch of items from just below group level up to about 6 above. I print them out, cut em up, and seperate them into stacks that are paper-clipped with a scrap of paper on top that has a level range... maybe "5-6". So I have stacks of these right now (for my current campaign) that are anywhere between levels 5 and 10.

I know you mentioned you are lazy, but really this didn't take very long - just went shopping grabbing stuff here and there, print, cut separate. Not a lot of time for what amounts to treasure that will cover the next 3-4 levels or so. We play every other week so that 1 and a half hour of work will last me months. Plus, I know exactly what was picked, where as in a random list I will feel I need to skim anyway, and pull out stuff that doesn't make sense, or that I don't like for the campaign.

Obviously if you are cool with whatever, a randomized list is much easier - just thought I would share ;)
