preparing spells

First Post
hey yall

I have the feats still and silent spell (which ups the spell slot one lvl each)

when i prepare the spells, do i have to declare it silent before hand and taking the proper slot adjustment?

or do I just prepare it normally and then when i need to/ want to adjust the level when i cast it, with the proper spell slot taken up?

EX
wiz with fireball (lvl 3). Do I have to prepare (study in morning) the spell as a 5th lvl slot if I wanted it silent and still? or can I just prepare it as a lvl 3 spell slot, and bumping it up when i need to and giving up a spell of that slot (4 or 5 depending on which feats i use)?

thanks a bunch

You need to prepare it at the appropriate level with the metamagic applied.

Unless you are a sorceror or other class that does not prepare spells.

say again?

i am a cleric

what other class besides cleric can cast on the fly? I thought all others had to prepare spells?

Clerics pray for spells. Therefore, clerics have to prepare spells in advance. Wizards memorize spells, wizards therefore also have to prepare spells in advance.

Sorcerers cast spells "spontaneously" and do not have to prepare them.

If you have to prepare a spell in advance, you have to use the meta-magic in advance as well.

Sorcerers can cast silent-stilled spells on the fly, just like they can cast normal spells on the fly.

Now the interesting question is, can a cleric swap out a 3rd level spell for a silent-stilled CLW spell?

sorry- I meant a sorc.

I was thinking cleric cause I am one...

Sorry. so sorc and bard are the only one (unles it is racial like a gnome) and cleric can do it for cure spells...

Also the shugenja in OA, which is like a sorc that casts divine spells. Shugenja are sorta like a combination of the D&D cleric and wizard, in that with the right spell selection, they could fill either role.

Bah! It's just a ripoff from the Witch in the DMG. Or maybe not. ;)
