Prestige Classes gone?

I'd love to see PrCs removed in favour of talent trees. I really didn't like the build mentality and wide disparity of PC effectiveness that they encouraged.

I thought of that myself. "Prestige paths" instead of prestige classes. You keep advancing in your old class, but get some exta abilities on levels 11 to 20 (in 3e).

True, but they also said that feat/talent trees will be mostly gone.

I think what they said was feats won't be locked away behind so many prerequisites. I don't know if that means anything for talent trees.

I just hope they don't revert to something like the 2Ed Kits.

I didn't have anything against them myself- I actually enjoyed several of them- but almost every GM I gamed with axed them...something done to a lesser extent with PrCls.
