Price this item (funny)

Hi folks,

I've created this item in my last adventure but I'm not sure about the price. OK, here it is:

Golden Cod Piece, +5 bonus on AC vs. Sneak Attacks.

Anyone remembers Baldur's Gate I? ;)
A member of our party wears the Silver Shirt which gives a +5 armor bonus (it is treated as a vestment with no special weight).

The bronze pants will come up in an other adventure. BTW, anybody knows the abilities of these pants from BG I?

Thanx,

the Dark Dragon

EDIT: spelling...

What kind of AC bonus? armor enhancement bonus? Does it stack with normal armor? Isn't a Cod Piece a fish?

It's an unnamed bonus, so: yes it stacks with normal armor.

My fault: the word is codpiece (in german: Hosenlatz)

The pants, the shirt and the bronze pantalette had no ability or special propreties whatsover except when "re-forged" by that dwarf in the last module throne of Bhaal in which it turned into a kind of armored-robotic suit that kinda turned you into an iron golem.

English isn't my maternal language either. Turns out a cod is really a fish, whereas a codpiece / cod piece is, uh, somekind of chest for family jewels... :D

Now I'm looking at other wondrous items to see which one(s) give very specific bonus, so I can get an idea of a factor to reduce the price, since ArmorBonus² X 2,500gp is a little much for this item...

Circlet of Persuasion: +2 on charisma checks (ie ~+4 on charisma)
4,500gp (of 16,000gp) is 28%

Periapt of proof against poison: +4 saves vs poison
4,000gp (of 16,000gp) is 25% (actually, the Magic Item Creation Table states that "limited" bonuses to saves cost 4 times less than a resistance bonus)

Irk. those are the only "relevant" items I could find.

25% of 25 X 2,500gp = 15,625gp... that seems a little much for an AC bonus vs. Sneak Attacks only

You could also check what is the price for the Light Fortification enchantment (since enchantments now go per price, and not per equivalent bonus), since +5 to AC ~ 25% less chance of getting sneak attacked. Since Fortification applies to critical hits also, you could divide that price by half? Count only 75% perhaps?

Anyways, hope this helps a little...
