Priest: final version available HERE

So, in the last two weeks, Crothian and I have built a new core class. It doesn't have to replace completely the CLERIC, but it gives to the divine spellcasters a complete new versatily, and above all, the chance to build unique characters with unique powers without having different classes for each God/Portfolio.

Well, not to be too self promoting, but the UMBRAGIA Volume IV: Liber Sacerdoti sneak peek shows some options... the book itself is not complete yet, but the ideas are there to show you what direction we are taking with the servants of the divine.

Most of My Gods have limited Domains

Your class wouldn't work in my game world where gods have limited scope and domains to increase conflict and interest.

Although its tempting to choose domains like spellbooks I think priests and clerics have to be especially careful of the entities and agendas behind those domains. 5 seperate powers from 5 seperate domains implies a liberal sharing of devine mysteries and godly portfolios.

I wish you luck with the priest but I'm very curious to hear how you think the class might serve minor dieties, demigods etc... that only have one domain to offer.

At any rate, this is a very well timed bump; I have a "Dawn of Gods" event coming (time to deal with the heathens ) and I'd love to use this Class instead of the Cleric. There are some tweaks I'd make (of course, what don't I tweak, eh?) since I'm looking at applying things in a manner similar to what Sigurd describes.

How has this worked out in-game, anyways?

Well, obviously each campaign is differnt. My own has 13 greater gods and countless demi gods. This was designed with gods that have multiple domains and at the time domains where being published at a decent rate. So, it made sense to just assign the new domains to the god or gods that it worked best in.

For the demi gods or other gods with few domains I would suggest just adding domain powers to each domain or borrowing powers from similiar ones. There are a few domains that are very similiar.

How has this worked out in-game, anyways?

I'd just like to point out a few posts aboe you'll notice there was a two year gab between posts by me. So, it has been a little while since this has been used or even thought about by me. But it workled great. THe players really liked the options and the definitions this class brought them. Clerics always felt the same even with different gods and domains, there just wasn't enough different about them. I imagine this class will get an overhaul in the next few days, or at the very least updated. Since people are looking at it again I'll go through it and make changes based on new rules, new thoughts, and how it played.

As someone interested in core (20 level) class revamps, I eagerly await the revised version to see what you do with it.
