Let it be known that the player lives in the same area as the DM and two of the other players. Also let it be known that player is being booted from his place for not paying the rent and such. This boils down to the fact that he's going to have to go somewhere else and leave us alone.

advice
No, the MOST extreeme advice would be to demand that they fight (have the most bada$$ character in your group demand this backed up by all other players, except those involved) If they refuse have the fighter types charge them both per battle, priest charge per healing spell etc. show them how they are effecting the chemestry of the rest of the party or treat them as the childern that they seem to be, let them fight to the death and tell them you arn't gonna raise either one.
Or back the bard with a unified party and tell this mage that he can't have the bards stuff any more then the bard can roast his famailar or toast his spellbook. then kick him in the head for being an a$$.

Is the problem guy still around, Bob5th? Just curious for another update- hopefully he isn't trying to move in with the dm or anything!
Well another update here at last. The last I heard the problem player is in jail. Was arrested on a matter of leaving the scene of an accident he caused driving a car without a drivers lisence. A backgound check revealed he had outstanding warrants in Arkansas (unpaid child support and battery(not against the mother but some guy he got in a fight with)).
On a side note we haven't played since he left and last I remember we were about somewhere in the underdark in the book Deep Horizions wich seems to be a pointless sidetrack so far.
