Produce Flames and Cure x Wounds

First Post
If a cleric w/ the fire domain or a druid casts Produce Flames, then next round casts a Cure x Wounds, does the person receiving the cure x wounds heal wounds AND take fire damage from the Produce Flames? Can the cleric/druid choose for the Produce Flames not to damage his ally, without dismissing the spell?

Without the 'Spell Flower' monstrous feat you can only hold one touch spell at a time. Casting the Cure spell would end the Produce Flame spell.

The druid can touch the recipient of the Cure spell with the other hand.

Produce Flame is not a traditional Touch spell. It's like a fancy Light spell that you can also use as a weapon, but each use reduces the duration of the Light effect.

I don't agree. Produce flame is not a 'touch' spell, as described in the holding a charge section. It's an effect spell. I agree with kjenks that you could cast another spell with your other hand, if you had your other hand available (though many druids and clerics have shields).

Well, we have two votes for dismiss the spell, and two votes for allowing both to exist, one for each hand. Anyone else have any ideas about how this would work?

Don't vote; read the rules. Produce Flame is not a Touch spell, so it does not obey the rules for Touch spells.

Beating a dead horse?

So how would this work if the caster was carrying shield on the other hand. Could you still cast cure x if the produce flames was still going on, and what effect would it have? Fizzle out? Person both takes and heals damage?

If you are carrying a shield in the other hand, then you do not have a free hand to complete the somatic component of the cure x spell, so you cannot cast the cure x spell.

Agreed. Additionally, if you really really wanted to cast that cure spell you would have to free up one of your hands. This would require a move to loose the shield or a standard action to dismiss the produce flame. Obviously, in a crunch situation such as healing the fighter who is at -9 hp, loosing the shield is the better option so that you don't have to do the healing next round (unless you have a quickened cure wounds handy of course).
