Pronounciation of Justiciar

Do there tend to be fewer grammar/sentence structure/pronunciation threads on ENWorld when games are actually released?

If so, I can't wait until June.

Regardless of its pronunciation, I'd like to thank WotC for using the correct spelling of the term, both here and with kensei (it's not kensai).

Actually, I don't think that's true.

Kensei/Kensai are both phonetic spelling of asian words for which there are symbols, rather than letters. Consequently, either spelling is correct.

I remember watching the film Tin Men, I had no idea what those AA-Luminum windows where made of. I though it was a funny mix of metal mostly made of Aluminium, we had recently gotten Aluminium windows install in my Mams.I was studying electronic Engineering at the time. When it finally clicked I LOL'd...

No one in Ireland has any problems pronouncing Aluminium. Most wouldn't know what AA-Luminum was if asked.

Except the spellings have different pronunciations, 'ken-say' and 'ken-sigh' respectively. Kensei, from what I've been led to believe, should be the right spelling.

Because nobody here spells it that way. The two spellings were competing for each other at the same time after the metal was named, and it just so happens the US adopted the -um version rather than the British -ium.

Regardless, incorrect spelling propagated by gamer geeks is not equivalent to a culture-wide shift of acceptable pronunciation and spelling. Otherwise we'd have villians, rouges, and people loosing their minds.

Cheers,
Cam

When we are the only culture that currently uses said archaic word, yes, it is.

Aluminium is to Aluminum as Justiciar is to Justicar.

The only exception seems to be this poor chap...

The Duke of Argyll still holds the hereditary title of High Justiciar of Argyll, but no responsibilities now attach to it.
