The overhaul concept and limits should be described in the character creation rules.

I don't know if I would change my background, but I know I am seriously thinking about changing my multi-class wizard for a multi-class Swordmage... but that can be easily done by retraining.

That might be a better fit for a fighter, Sword Burst is a nice Encounter power and let's you mark all adjacent foes. Plus, the bonus to AC 1/day isn't bad as well.
