Protection from level/ability drain

Negative Energy Protection is the only such spell in the core rules, and it uses a caster level check.

If the check beats a DC of (11 + attacker HD), the attack does not drain levels or ability points, and an undead attacker takes 2d6 points of positive energy damage.

Restoration gives back levels and ability points that have already been drained, but that's probably not what you're looking for.

Try Shapechange (Sor/Wiz 9) which changes your type. Change into a Construct or Undead creature. BTW, I've received unofficial word on the Wizards' boards that Kiss of the Vampire doesn't give you the Undead type.

Spells have been mentioned (which are what you asked for, I know), but a Scarab of Protection from good ole DMG will do it too.

Very interesting. I broke down the price of the scarab. 30,000 of it was for the SR 15, so that leaves 8,000 for the protection. That comes to about 666 gp per charge (protection from single attack). However, given that the protect is the secondary non-similar power, its price on its own is actually 4,000, which comes to about 333 per charge. Very interesting indeed. Thanks!

I didn't see any changes in the eratta. While you don't change type the spell specifically says, "You are treated as if you were undead for the purposes of all spells and effects."
