psionic warrior vs. multiclass psion/fighter

Why oh why does the psychic warrior not get weaponspecialization anymore :(

Because they realized, that he doesn't deserve it. He doesn't even have full BAB.

Before the psychic warrior, every warrior type with full BAB would have to get it...

The worst part about the psion/fighter is that your manifester level sucks in comparison to a psychic warrior. That means one targeted dispel psionics (or magic), and POOF, there go all yor buffs.

Unless they errata psionic dispel, that's what's going to happen anyways.

It was just special flavor for them, and it was a nice addition. Generally speaking I dont see why weaponspecialization is a fighter only feat anyway, it isnt exactly incredibly powerful. If it is fighter only make it a class ability, otherwise open it up to everyone. As it was it was some nice flavor ::shrugs:: Doesnt matter though, I am free to houserule it to something useful.

I never really understood the fraction here who claimed the WS is nothing special and not worth it... I can only guess that it's a matter of high or medium or low level games and how good your players attributes are as well as magic item availability (shopping vs random treasures) ... e.g. point buy vs high rolling methods.

In my games, WS makes a big difference.

I don't see it making much difference after level 5 or so... It's just 2 points of damage with specific type of weapon. Fighter needs more and better exclusive feats/feat-chains. :\

Worth it? only for certain fighter builds. I have seen and heard of straight fighter builds that will never touch it, as they use more than one weapon. Sure, if you overspecialize to the point where you are only useing one weapon it can be pretty helpful, but if you have two different weapons, or even three, that you like to use fairly regularly depending on the circumstances it is usually better to pick up all of the other feats that will help more often.

It is only 2 points of damage after all. Weapon focus, which everyone has access to, will wind up doing more effective damage over time. Whereas saving that feat for specialization and instead picking up improved trip, or sunder, or a combat tactic feat generally just does more in the long run.

So, it is nice, but not always worth it. Along with there being no real useful reason to not allow it to other classes, except as a holdover from previous editions. The fighters need more of a boost than this lackluster feat.

Ah well... I have a spellcasterheavy group with 2 druids, 2 clerics, a sorcerer and a ftr/rog type... They fear fighters. More than barbarians. Only 2 points? Well... most of the time, barbarians in rage do only 3 points more damage ;)...

Okok, they hit by 2 points better. Ah crap. Most fighters I saw with the feat never regretted it. At least no archer.

That´s what I alwalys disliked about the PsyWar: access to Weapon Specialisation. Good for him, but robs the Fighter of one of the unique things he has. So IMO a good change.

If you would allow every class to get Weapon Specialisation then mellee classes like the Barbarian are getting too much power. Imagine that, a high level mighty-raging Barbarian with Weapon Specialisation and maybe Greater Weapon Specialisation. Scary. A class should "pay" for it by multiclassing into Fighter if they want to have it.

Heh. In my campaign Weapon Specialisation is open to *anyone* who has weapon focus and BAB4+ FIghters can pick it up at 4th, other good BAB classes at 6th, others later.

You know what? Out of about 30 characters, only *1* has taken it (and they are a fighter focussing on the rapier with other additional homebrew weapon master feats that followed on from that too).

I just don't see PCs learning weapon specialisation IMC.
