psionic warrior vs. multiclass psion/fighter

Just wanted to see how you guys thought the psionic warrior stacks up against a multiclass psion/fighter.

BAB seems to be pretty comparable. Bonus feats seem pretty close. Power seems to trade off back and forth between the psion and the psionic warrior until they start getting pretty high up in levels. Of course, the fighter/psion has access to weapons specialization.

Thanks

The worst part about the psion/fighter is that your manifester level sucks in comparison to a psychic warrior. That means one targeted dispel psionics (or magic), and POOF, there go all yor buffs.

I would never play a multiclass spellcaster (psychic warrior included) for that reason alone.

the psychic warrior has some powers that only he has access to, some are pretty good too ;)

Why oh why does the psychic warrior not get weaponspecialization anymore :(

ConcreteBuddha, Complete Divine has a feat that increases the caster level of a multiclassed divine caster's spells by +4 (to a max of your character level). How much you wanna bet Complete Arcane follows up with something similar?

The big hurdle as Scion mentions is power selection. A *lot* of the melee-enhancing powers are psywar-only now. Also, psywars get a bunch of powers at a lower level than psions, which is a definite advantage. And the lower manifester levels restrict your ability to augment your powers, in addition to the weakness to dispels.

Okay, so then I might play a level 4 fighter/ level X psion...maybe, if a DM allows that feat for a psion and/or it is in Complete Arcane. (Strangely, a lot of DMs don't allow an arcane version of a bead of karma. I wonder why...) ;)

Because then no one would ever play a fighter if a psychic warrior was available (especially since they beefed up the powers). Specialization is the fighter's schtick. A psychic warrior shouldn't have had it in the first place.

Heh. I've had the Improved Spellcasting feat on my page for at least 2 years now....

Everyone seems to forget that he can take it as a power now...

There's a very significant power differential between something that's always active (even if limited to a specific weapon) and something that requires a standard action to activate, and only lasts a minute per (manifester) level.

PsyWars get all sorts of fantastic buffs. But probably won't use more than one or two in any given battle.
