Pterra

Amongst the swampdwelling goblins of Pterra are a class of masked Warrior known as Luchadores Locos specially trained to fight Theropods unarmed. These warriors are heroes amongst the goblin mobs able to use speed skill and fury to defeat the most terrible opponents

Even the Banasti are in awe of the Luchadores and some have begun to learn the unarmed techniques

NB: Luchadore Locos is a prestige class with most developing from Rangers, Monks and Barbarians. Contact with the swamp-goblins is required...:)

The Dal-Heggoth are a mighty group of barbarian clans, in the far northern savannah. The Halls of Dal-Heggoth are great longhouses, built of dinosaur bones and roofed in the hides of giant sloths, where barbarian kings live and hold council with their hunter-warriors. These Halls are gathered in small collections like villages, where various clans meet and trade. The people of Dal-Heggoth are humans, orcs, and half-orcs, tightly allied by bonds of blood. Their lands lie near a sea teeming with fish, squids, and whales.

Neat idea, but Reread the first Pterra post.

'Pterra is a lush and warm land situated in the southern climes of it's world...'

Maybe these barbarians dwell in longhouses made of the bones of their dinosaur enemies as a show of their strength?

Most folk feel that the goblin warriors wear such elaborate costumes as an easy means to identify the dead as they have a horrible rate of success. What most don't know is that the goblins are seeking the legendary leader they were promised in an ancient prophecy found in some ruins they discovered, The One Who Masters the Scaled Ones, figuring the goblin that actually manages to best a dino to be him. With each defeat, the goblins feel they are getting closer and closer to their hero, after all they are running out of masked gladiators.

The Banasti who attempt to learn this way of fighting soon find that screaming like a little girl, closing their eyes, and charging a dino is not for them.

There are no chromatic or metallic dragons in Pterra.

The dragons of Pterra have put aside such cosmetic labels as chromatic and metallic and bonded together based upon the elemental natures of their breath weapons into four great houses; Flames, Storms, Stone, and Waves. Those dragons that lack an elemental breath weapon have a limited voice in the Draconis Conclave.
The standard dragon alignments based purely on scale color do not exist.

Pterra's dragons are assumed by Draakhin, Shael, and Human scholars to be the origin of both the world and most of the scaled races (Namely dinosaurs, draakhin, and lizardfolk... maybe others, but most certainly not the snake cultists).
The occassional elemental leaks, and the resemblance of some creatures to the dragons would be evidence of this.

Note: Enough races?

Some adventure hooks peppered with setting material.

Recently along the eastern coasts strange ships of a design not seen before, crewed by strange dark-skinned humans clad in fine beed-work and wicker wielding fine steel weapons and strange smoke and fire belching staves (muskets) have been reported. They have made semi-peaceful contact with some of the coastal villages but none speak thier tounge. They also seem to lack any spell-casters among them and have been mysitified at the powers of clerics and mages they encounter.

Reports have filtered in recently of a massive explsion in one of the jungles near the equator. The source is unkown but a large crater has been sighted and strange creatures unkown to Pterra have been seen roaming the nearby lands.

The gnomes of the deep forests of the high southern mountains have always been a quite and reclusive people. However now they have been seen riding in force on thier trained raptor mounts. The reason for this buildup is unkown however some local Kobold tribes are now fearful that the ancient animosity of the two races is about to build up again.

There are patches of the rainforest that hug the Naktch-Nitil river. These patches grow so dense that many quadrapeds larger than a dog find it nearly impossible to maneuver. Many small animals and rare, tasty fruit, grow in these dense patches, meaning that they would be prime targets for hunters and foragers. Yet, they are typically avoided because many of those that enter the thicket dissapear. Since these thickets are not very large, typically only several hundred yards or so in size, and the typical predator is unable to enter the thicket, the dissapearances are unexplained. The lizardfolk who live along the river claim that the thickets will occasionally move several yards over night, while maintaining the same size.

I'm still waking up. I don't know if this one makes any sense.

There is the skeletal remains of one of the greatest, and most dangerous, earth dragons partially buried in the peak of a mountain. It was so powerful that even though its body died, its heart still beats under the rock. This thump-thump-thump can be faintly heard in the mountain and the surrounding hills. Someone has built a shrine in the massive ribcage of the earth dragon, but no specific group occupies or lays claim to the temple.

To the furthest southern reaches, deep in caves beneath the snow-capped Ice Wall peaks, you will find strange ruins (aboleth) That unlink the abandoned ones towards the northen interior, these ruins show signs of strife and deliberate desctruction. It is rumored among the mountain people that deep in some of these caves you can find mounds of skeletons, all with thier skulls neatly split open in the back and no sign of thier former contents. On occasion dark stories surface of strange squid-headed monsters half glimpsed by miners and others who would deign to explore the Ice Wall caves.

To the west and in the northern-most reaches of Pterra you will find a natural bay about 10 miles in diameter. This would be normaly a perfect harbor and port-of-call for merchant sailors up and down the coast, however there is one highly unatural feature to the bay. In the dead centre of the bay is a rock piller, a mile in diameter, rising thousands of feet strait in to the air. All who have dared climb or explore it have never returned (DM Secret, the top houses a beholder hive city)

Orcs in some of the more remote jungles have been reported to display strange powers (Incarnum) in battle, magic like none ever seen before in the rest of Pterra. These orcs themselves seem strangely cultured and less savage that thier more common breathen, cultivating a neat if fearsome appearance and demeanor and fighting with weapons that ware well made but obviously of orcish desgin.
