Publisher Opinions of FFE Events?

Frankly, I'm amazed (and impressed) WotC went as easy on them as they did.

But that's the OGL, isn't it? This License will terminate automatically if You fail to comply with all terms herein and fail to cure such breach within 30 days of becoming aware of the breach.
And FFE did act quite quickly once WotC stepped in.

Oh, and for "Drawmij" - I'd think that "Drawmij" alone wouldn't be that much of a prob. It must have been the deities' names that ticked them off, and once they were at it, they pointed out the "Drawmij"-PI.

All in all, sad news. But I guess you could've seen that coming.

True. I guess I was thinking of the time from the publication of the book with the problem, rather than from the date of notification. By that measure, FFE did indeed act swiftly. :o

I take back my "going easy" comment.

Maybe so Ari. But if this had been a case of bigger bucks involved (such as say copy-right infringement on a major novel) I doubt FFE would have tried that. But then that's just me.

I'm with Ari. FFE has a pattern of violations. They get no sympathy from me. The gods were such an obvious violation too. I could see Ward just thinking of Drawmij as his old PC and not considering that it's WOTC PI.

Prediction #1: someone out there will rush out to buy a bunch of copies of the books to sell on eBay in a years time.

Prediction #2: someone will actually buy them just because they're pulled from circulation.

(well, I saw it happen with a Bob Dylan compilation album a few years back...)

I'll take those bets...

(hides his now-banned FFE books) :D

(well, I thought about it anyway)

I think WotC handled it rather well. Let's hope this makes a profound impression upon FFE. I'd like to see their material improve to the point that it's worth my time to give them a chance when it comes to new products in the future.

The question remains:

Is it a good thing or a bad thing? Or what?

Good, because it would be unfair if one company gets away with it, and others stay true to the OGL?
Bad, because it hurts the "industry" and possibly the "D20 community"?
