Put two weak things together and make a slightly stronger thing

There is a feat in the phb II that lets you turn an unarmed strike into a piercing or slashing weapon.

Duelists have abilities that work best when unarmored and using piercing weapons, with nothing in the off-hand.

Maybe a monk/duelist with that feat could work? Could one use a flurry, with unarmed "piercing" weapons, and get all the duelist goodness? This merits a further look...

What other ideas might work to take otherwise weak components and make something less weak?

Are you sure that the feat does not only changes the damage you do?

I felt that feat was actullay a nice one for campains where damage type based DR was common.
