quality standards compliance decisions

Just a request for publishers who are deciding between going OGL or altering their material to comply with the new d20 logo's license sex, violence, or prejudice requirements.

Please go OGL.

Particularly PDF publishers, check if OGL material can go in the d20 sections of rpgnow.com, it would make sense to be there because they are all based off the srd and are mechanically d20 even if not branded as such. People searching through the d20 sections would still find your products then.

Go Prometheus!

If you drop the d20 license--or if you think that you might drop it at some point in time--please don't go logo-free. Adopt the OpenDie and Prometheus logos NOW, so that they have greater recognition when we need them later.

Both logos mean something ever-so-slightly different than d20, but they do carry meaning.

If you would like to help shape the Prometheus logo license, please join FGA-Prometheus at yahoogroups, either by browsing to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FGA-Prometheus/ or by sending an e-mail to FGA-Prometheus-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Since 99% of the d20 products to date have been well within the new d20 SL 5.0 guidelines, please don't feel you need to change a thing.

But if your Work that you have toiled for a long time does not meet the QS, and you feel that conforming to it will ruin what you consider your greatest achievement, go with OGL.

I myself are looking for cutting-edge material that thinks outside of the sandbox empire that Wizards built.

I think mongoose has put out more than 1% of the d20 products :)

I'm very curious to see how Mongoose handles these developments.

I don't envy any of the d20/OGL companies who have to make a decision on whether to include the d20 STL - even if their current material seems to meet the new requirements.

I own DaemonEye Publishing.

I am releasing all furture products d20STL-free.

I would be pleased as punch to start helping build recognition of rht Prometheus and Open Die logos (even thoughI think something less subjective should be used).

I am going that one extra step and organizing a general boycott of WotC/Hasbro (up to 18 folks so far).

Mongoose has already said they are A-OK with WotC. No big surprise there ;)

Chance of Mongoose having to change it's products? 0%

Existing ones, I think it is improbable they will be asked to change the existing ones even though they are in technical violation. However, I don't expect to see any more topless women in future products and possibly even any more extreme sourcebooks like the quint psionics ones.

Now that Mongoose has said they are sticking with d20, will they be changing their artwork in future products? I guess we'll see.

Actually, considering the number of d20-titled products Mongoose has coming out, it does make sense for them to support the license.

And a good point was made by them when they said they owe alot of their popularity to the d20 license.

Interesting times, though...
