D&D 5E question for all my fellow DMs

I love when my stepson makes me have those moments when I feel like Homer Simpson while we are talking. Tonight was one of those nights. I had just picked him up from his father and he was telling me about the one-shot his uncle came up with for new years eve, and it got me thinking about a book I had started to write years ago that I was able to get most of on the the computer. I have been thinking about this idea since, but I wanted to get some input from my fellow DMs on here. The book I had started to write was a Star Wars book that brought in DBZ characters and has Luke Skywalker training them at the temple on Yavin 4. Since most of my players like to go off game and be evil for their alignments I was going to turn them into sith acolytes and train with my main antagonist fighting to eradicate the Jedi and become his new apprentice. I was just wondering if anyone here has thought of something similar or would have any ideas as far as what race stats would be a good fit for their characters and the villains and creatures that they would be fighting against.

I thought about using either a golem or giant for a Rancor and and elf for a twelik, but at the same time i do not know what type of classes the players should be. they will all have the force abilities and instead of xp being awarded i would award force points to their alignments being lightside points and darkside points.

So if my fellow Dms have any ideas that might work please let me know i will take any and all advice to heart.

Well, though not entirely compatible, the Star Wars RPG by WotC had statistics for many of the Star Wars creatures. Saga Edition is probably the favorite, but the other versions could also be utilized if you are looking for a reference of what you would utilize as stats for races.

(If you can get your hands on a copy...of course).

I did something a little different; I had written up an Empire-based sandbox campaign where the PC's played imperial characters with their own Star Destroyer - one set were bridge officers, another set were tie pilots and the third set were ground troops. They had been sent to a distant sector whose maps had been lost from imperial archives to hunt for rebels and they would have to seek out and check each planet individually, remapping and scouting each planet. Wide variety of encounters, hazards and side events (including a 3rd pirate faction) to keep the characters busy for an entire campaign.

It was for the WEG D6 version, though. But the above could be used with the added angle of another set of characters who are sith acolytes/inquisitors hunting down jedi in the system as well - possibly before the jedi & rebels find one another and link up.

As for using D&D and reskinning:

Barbarian - good for ewoks, tuskan or other "primitive" races
Ranger - ISB agents or Commandos
Fighter - Stormtroopers or Rebel troopers; crossbows as blasters
Rogue/Bard - smugglers & pirates (Lando would likely be a bard :) )
Sorcerer(/Wizard) - Empire Strikes Back-like Yoda or other contemplatives
Warlock (Hexblade) - Jedi & Sith, with a focus on Force powers
Paladins - Jedi & Sith, with a focus on lightsaber combat

Clerics might be high-tech medics or scientists; or just don't use them

You could use the Custom Lineage guidelines from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything to make approximations of various alien species. I'm planning to do something similar when running a sci-fi game using the Dark Matter setting.

I only have the core rules phb and monster manual for D&D 5 E but have foun a website that deals with nothing but the starwars rpg and they are also at 5e as well so i was able to download the monster manual for that and there are a lot of creature that the party could run into that would work this. I would like to thank everyone on here for the help and responses that you all have come up with.

I want to thank everyone for their advice I think I have found what I am going to use for this. so I will be ending the post here and will let you all know how the first session of this new campaign pans out and how much the player enjoyed or disliked the new campaign.
