Question on fantasy races

Considering World of Warcraft is a game where one can play with humanity as antagonist while not assuming virtues in Orcs and denying them in humans, I will concede it's possible to tell a non-human protagonist/human antagonist without turning it into yet another version of Pocahontas, Dances With Wolves, Fern Gully, Avatar, or Battle for Terra; but I think considering past experience, the burden of proof is on them.
To be honest, it is from this WoW perspective that I intended to portray humans as "the bad guy". From any perspective, really, the race that is causing your people harm and suffering is often "the bad guy". The webcomics Goblins and Looking For Group are perfect examples of what I like to see in my non-Human stories.

I'm too lazy to look over the entire thread again. Whatever you do, it's important to make sure your players are on board regarding your ideas.

Write a short campaign/setting primer on what you intend to do and ask them for their opinions. Otherwise you end up investing lots of prep-work for something that nobody is interested in.
